I, R, T for the fandom meme!

I. Has tumblr caused you to stop liking any fandoms, if so, which and why

not tumblr specifically actually, if it was any platform it was twitter, where i am less active nowadays, and yeah. i got really into some fandoms which were really great and pretty much changed my life actually, but this was during the pandemic and brainworms were developed by all. some ppl were able to shed the worms and some not, so a few of my old fandoms give me a sour feeling in my stomach, but the aspects of them that were important to me remain so

R. A pairing you ship that you don’t think anyone else ships

oh man. i don't think i'm enough of a trailblazer for this ask tbh i tend to gravitate toward ships with compelling canon evidence or compelling fandom content. i am sort of a lone batlantern shipper in my friendgroup tho

T. Hard and fast headcanons

lets see if i can drum more up uhhh

in superbat, clark is the one more likely to cause a misunderstanding regarding feelings

jason and selina have a special bond; she and bruce were together when jason was robin, and she essentially became his mother figure during that time

along those same lines, jason was gutted when he came back and found out that bruce and selina split up (for good in my mind)

once when tim was like five or six, his parents left him alone on accident for a weekend, and on account of he was young and a kid he forgot to bathe and also got into sticky situations making himself food etc. and when his parents came home and he ran to hug his mom, she pushed him aside and said something like "oh my god timothy, you are revolting! how did you get so disgusting?" and basically he never unlearned that. that became a core memory for him and ever since has just been really careful about being clean to the point of obsession. this is something @vinelark and i talked about once and it has since become canon in my brain

N. Name three things you wish you saw more or in your main fandom (or a fandom of choice)

well if i'm being selfish, i wish there were more fics about newly adopted jason, or jason with bruce and alfred before the adoption. i'm so deeply interested in that vague window between the tire-stealing incident and the adoption, and i want a million fics of it. i personally headcanon that bruce doesn't immediately rush jason into being robin and instead focuses on giving this kid a safe place to live, so i'm always thinking about that

for superbat and ghostbat and any bruce ship really, i wish there was more content of bruce being like, deeply romantic and intent on making it work, rather than the prevailing fanon of him being so suspicious of happiness that he sabotages the relationship or doesn't even realize someone's in love with him. i love to think about a bruce who very much wants to love someone and will do what he can to make that happen

and i think for fandom in general, i wish there was more tolerance for fanon? even in my chill perusal of the tag it's hard to avoid ppl disliking certain fandom interpretations of characters or holding up the comics as the only true source of characterization. we all have interpretations that we like, and personally i think it's really fun that there's so much room for different takes on characters. we all have things that annoy us that we bitch about in private chats, i get that, but sometimes fanon is fun and even dare i say it, more interesting than canon. but yeah ppl get really tied up in what's canon and what's fanon and i think you should just let people have a good time. don't be a hater lol

Z. Just ramble about something fan-related, go go go

ooh okay for batlantern well. first of all go read all of FabulaRasa's fics bc they're very entertaining and engrossing and very very compelling. but yeah i love batlantern bc they offer such a different dynamic from other bruce ships where bruce becomes so, so petty in response to hal being The Pettiest person on the planet. please watch justice league war if you haven't already. i was also just explaining to @burins last night that hal is the wettest most pathetic blorbo of a character. he's always one bad day away from death or homelessness or joblessness or illness. he reminds me of nancy drew in that seems like he gets hit over the head and dragged around a lot. don't even get me started on the parallax thing. i love a pathetic man. anyway what i really enjoy about batlantern is the dynamic where hal is such a deeply good, decent person doing his best and yet his life is falling apart to such a degree that bruce wayne, known fuckup of epic proportions, is the one to be like "christ let's get you some help. jesus." for bruce to be like, actually really competent and normal and functional by comparison, but also very compassionate and loyal. and i love the expectation that hal thinks bruce is a freak and then gets a peek behind the curtain and discovers....that bruce is deeply domestic. that delights me to no end. ALSO for bruce to have this giant messy but loving family that he cares so much for and for hal to be essentially on his own entirely, for hal to see that family and want desperately to be part of it but not feel like he's worthy of joining it. that's some good pangs right there

i'm pretty sure i answer this and/or questions about my first fandom differently every time bc i can never really remember or isolate things before a certain point. really i wasn't ever In Fandom before like 2019 but i had obsessions long before that. in reality i think it was probably damen/laurent from captive prince, which i read when it was a web serial way back in the day

oh excellent questions. my fandoms-in-law atm are word of honor/tian ya ke, yuwu, hades, some cdramas, figure skating, better call saul lol, you and judy, and the locked tomb—tho i consider myself "in" some of these fandoms even tho i'm not actively posting about them or making content for them

i don't really know what this question means lol but i've done a few headcanon posts already so i'll let those stand on their own as a representation of the sick places my brain goes

oh yes lol. my crack is what i'm best known for in DC i think, with my email fic where all of the batfam have to sign a form regarding poison ivy's sex pollen. and also my social media au about what gotham twitter would look like, born entirely out of my lovehate relationship with twitter. fandom could use more crack tbh

Z. Just ramble about something fan-related, go go go (prompts optional but encouraged)

oh man uhhh well if im honest DC has not really been on the top of my mind fandom wise the last few weeks but i'll say that sometimes as my bedtime story to myself i think about jason + a doctor sleep au where he comes back from the dead with this uncanny ability to see ghosts/communicate with other paranormally sensitive ppl across space and time like in doctor sleep which is one of my favorite horror movies.

i mostly think about like, post an utrh situation where jason is unable to control his ability to see ghosts and the sadness and horror and despair of it takes him to a really low point and he kind of quits vigilantism. bear with me here. he's in gotham but he's entirely off the vigilante grid. no one in the family has heard from him or seen him in a while, and he covers his tracks really well. this is a jason who is more depression-forward than rage-forward i suppose (and tbh i go back and forth on having him struggle with addiction like in doctor sleep but lets not deal with that rn). anyway. he works as an orderly at a nursing home where he takes the night shifts bc he's able to sense when ppl are about to die, and he comforts them as they go. and he gently deals with any ghosts who try to stick around.

and i think it would be good if jason who is trying to do his best while also running from his past starts hearing about kids going missing around the city, and he can feel something being off, and this one sensitive kid who can shine like him suddenly goes quiet, so he has to actually go to batman for help and be like, i think something is happening to paranormally sensitive kids in the city. anyway and then the family get to see jason's cool paranormal mind powers. sorry this doesn't make sense if you haven't seen or read doctor sleep but yeah
