okay i wanna know how you identify with svdw cause i reblogged it and said how i identify with blair

TL;DR version: serena is seen as the “ultimate IT girl” of the UES. she’s gorgeous, attracts/dates a lot of men, super rich, and is always down for a good time. until the whole pete fairman/sleeping with her best boyfriend’s boyfriend thing happens and she really cracks down and decides she needs to be somewhere else so she can get her act together [even though she causes some trouble there] but as she tries to escape that, her past keeps following her or the fact that she’s famous and gorgeous~ keeps hindering the person who she really wants to be 

some examples:

s1 blair’s mother wanted serena to be the model for her new clothesline instead of blair because the other designers were telling them to go with Serena because she “appeals to the masses” more. 

s1 georgina was basically upset because serena has changed, doesn’t wanna party, and says that she wants to go home to study for the SATs. it irritates Georgina to the point of spiking her drink to make serena fun~ again

in s2 B told S that Yale wasn’t interested in Serena because who she was a person, but rather her fame and how it could bring more “current times” to the campus.  

s4/5 serena gets a solid job that she’s doing great at, but here comes here past in the form of  Dan Humphrey’s book which caused her co-workers to look at her differently and even call her by the alias that Dan used in the book. 

all in all, Serena is never taken seriously in the UES and no one wants to value how she’s trying to better herself and leave the past behind her. but everyone from her mom to her best friend always make comments about how pretty she is and that she doesn’t need to try to be successful or find “the one” because she’s gorgeous.

minus a few minor details i can relate to those situations that her character goes through a lot. she’s constantly trying to seek attention from her father, get positive attention from her mom and be as supportive as she can to her brothers and sisters. she does the best she can and sometimes she reverts back to using drugs and alcohol and her body/status to get what she wants, but only because she began to believe that maybe those people were right about her.

svdw moments:

season 1 when Blair tried to embarrass her and the meet and greet college thing by telling everyone that she was in rehab for alcoholism but it was really her brother and she went ahead and took the wrap for it anyway because she didn’t want anyone to hurt her brother

queen serena’s return after blair tries to sabotage her during fashion week/dan is an asshole to her

“as for taking me down i’d like to see you try”

the entire arc of the first half of season 4 is my absolute favorite because it explains serena’s past, why she ran away, the Ben Donovan thing, etc. etc.

basically her entire friendship with blair and how they take care of each other (the good parts) 

honorable mention: her mugshot moment was pretty damn badass
