I am compelled to make more Cake Princess art
May I present Cake Princess from a new little series I’m doing called Princess Break. She’s just a lil lady.
heyo i'm about to make another personal-ish sorta post here i go
as a fat person, body diversity has always been really important to me. i honestly do not draw fat characters enough, and i rarely see anyone devoting any effort to including fat characters in their casts - not just thick thighed or with big boobs, but actually fat. it's not hard to understand honestly because drawing fat people is Really Hard and takes a lot of practice ALONGSIDE learning basic anatomy; fat has rules of its own. now that i'm getting better at drawing fat people, i want to include them in my stuff more often. i would encourage people who want to see fat representation do the same.
with regard to the label "fat" - i LOATHE the word "obese" and i would much rather reclaim a word that has been used to belittle and dehumanize me all my life rather than some shitty clinical word used to reduce me to nothing but my body weight without (so they say) being offensive. "fat" is not synonymous with "lazy, ugly, worthless, disgusting, unhealthy," or anything else. normalizing the word is one step toward normalizing and appreciating body diversity.
it takes a very long time to learn to love your own body when you're bombarded left and right with outright hate, but everyone deserves to love themselves for who they are, and how they look.
so here's some of my fat ladies being badass and beautiful in their skibbies.
good news: i'm happy with how this came out. (it's a thing for another thing.)
bad news: i accidentally merged the layers and saved over the original .psd and now it's impossible to recover the original (i tried).
i am having a volatile mix of emotions right now because of these two factors.
e: uploaded the redone version.
i did it. i climned this whole drawing.
wow.
