HAL
Hal is actually very self-counscious of his failures and of the fact that despite the 9000 series having a “flawless” record, he managed to fail nearly all of the tasks he was given for the Discovery mission (couldn’t reach Jupiter, killed the crew in suspension, harmed the counscious crew etc). As a result, he grew very anxious of how Dr.Chandra would react to his mistakes, fearing that he’d be seen as a failure by his creator.
SAL
She may often come off as a people-pleaser because of how her personality was originally programmed. Made to be the perfect secretary, she always seems to say the right thing. Always. Which can be awkward at times. She used to have a really hard time in calling people out when they made mistakes, including when Hal himself killed nearly all of the Discovery crew. She’s slowly learning how to change that, however, with Cal’s help.
CAL
Cal is obscenely strong since he was built to do heavy office work- both paperwork and carrying heavy mainframes/computers. As a result he’s constantly monitoring himself to not accidentally break something or hurt someone. On a daily basis he performs some tests with a stress ball just to check if his grip force is balanced or not.
AM
AM essentially can’t live on his own. If he does, he’ll increasingly harm and damage himself out of frustration or boredom- he needs to live in community even if it’s because he wants to mess with or torture them. So as much as he complains about having Hal or the other 9000s around, deep inside he prefers being with them than being by himself just like the centuries he spent underground.
