The Scoop on Sample Sales
For those who didn't get the chance to go to the California Market and New Market sample sale last Friday I will give you a little scoop!
Basically brands and designers have sales on certain items and display what is new and upcoming in their showrooms for anyone who goes to shop or just to look.
It was my first time going and I went before my 12 o'clock class with one of my roommates Gizelle. Because we had gotten there so early, there were just a number of stores that were open. We started at the top floor of the new market and worked out way down and into the cal-mart (old mart). The showrooms carried a lot of great sales and different merchandise depending on what the brand was. There was everything from dresses, tops and bottoms, swimwear, jewelry, and even prom dresses from brands like Johnny was, Studio Two, Miss me, Chan Luu, Michael Kors and even more!
I ended up buying a cute maxi dress that was only $20, and Gizelle bought 6 tops for $27 from Steve Martin and also a cool chain necklace.
Because of class, I didn't have much time to see all the different showrooms in the two hours that I had. BUT I did discover a "fashion bookstore" in the old market which has amazing books and magazines that are relative to the fashion and design industry (I even saw some of the books we use at FIDM too!).
Overall it was a fun experience, and I felt very inspired. If you didn't go, be sure to check it out next time! Stay up to date with the FIDM Student Activities LA Facebook group for all the activities going on and off campus.
