Why we would say NO on it?
According to the secretary of state official website it says that if we say yes on prop 37 it means we have the right to know what is in our food what food has been genetically modified. That does not sound harming at all but behind it there are problems like these
Prop. 37 is a deceptive,
deeply flawed food labeling scheme,
just full of special interest.
Prop. 37 would make new government bureaucracy costing taxpayers millions, it also authorize expensive shakedown lawsuits against farmers and small businesses, and increase family grocery bills by hundreds of dollars per year.
If the companies start labeling everything they put in the food, that will cost them a lot, so to make it even they will rise the prices on the foods that we buy every day. That’s why our group decided to choose the no side.
Why people say YES on it?
People say yes on prop 37 because all these commercials are going around on TV that we have to know what we are eating; the TV stations are just bombarding people to get their votes. So the people say that it’s better to say “Yes” because we will know what we are eating, and that is their negative message. The problem is there is not enough commercials going around letting the people know what would happen if they say “No” it. People believe that labeling will make things better, because they will know what is in the food that they are eating, and that is the main problem is labeling a box will not change anything, because we have been eating those foods for a long periods of time now. So what is the point of wasting money if we are in debt anyways?
