@kaijuhimevt made this BEAUTIFUL illustration for the At Sea Without a Map print edition, which is coming out this summer (barring disaster)! Look at it, it's so beautiful!
We're a week into my impromptu, by the seats of our collective pants, crowd-told nautical adventure, At Sea Without a Map, so it's probably good to do a roundup and summary of where the story has gone so far.
Over the course of seven real-world days (and one in-story night), our lonely sailor protagonist encountered a mysterious woman swimming in a storm, who (after a somewhat disastrous attempt at flirting on our sailor's part) turned out to be a horrifying man-eating sea monster. Our sailor managed to subdue her with a net and accidentally ran her over with his boat, pulling her aboard to keep her from falling unconscious into the depths just as a massive sea storm hammered them both. Our sailor pulled through, though, and is now safely docked at a new, uncharted island, where they had an awkward conversation with their new sea monster acquaintance, and are now figuring out what to do next.
This week of the story shall henceforth be called Chapter 1: Dead Set on Getting Fishy. You may read it here and, as of this writing, the vote for what our sailor does in the next entry is still open on part 7.
