calixtus is the cherub equivalent of a sexual deviant to me.
calfuray and calbhach exchange worried glances when they see them dozing in lykoii's arms with their weak points totally exposed just... *winces from pain* ch chk tr trr ussst tig ing... *GASPS for air* him? and this vile act of... *hugging...* where did they go wrong *shakes head solemnly*
like if you were a middleaged mom and you heard your childhood bestie is in a relationship with a guy he only sees once a month and when theyre together they get a hotel room and beat the shit out of eachother in it for hours until one or both of them are unable to keep fighting, for mutual pleasure.
thats what thats like for the perisexed cherubs seeing calixtus be pale for that fish, in my heart anyway.
Are Plexus and/or Calixtus haunted by any guilt?
By the time they get to Continua, most everything has been resolved, but at different points in the story, even for quite a long time in some cases, absolutely.
Plexus is haunted by just about all of the guilt. All of it. Its just about as essential to her character as it can get. It propels her actions at every branch of the story, from her actions pregame, her leaving the clurch, her going into medicine, her joining the illegal hospicull, her working herself to the bone, her taking Tirent's broken horn from his death scene, her isolating once the game starts when she knows the Halfiron is dead and thinks the hospicull and Oftcas were destroyed too. When she thought everything was in vain, it propels her completion of her worldquest, it propels her prototyping of Bawurz' horn, it propels her working with Calbhach, it propels her Ascension to serve as Beacon, it propels her entire story. All of it. She's the guilt experiencer. its what she does. god i love Plexus... i think the only thing that lingers with her past then is the death of the Halfiron. They sacrificed themself to steal time, to give Oftcas and Dethy time, to save everyone in the hospicull. i feel like i dont mention that enough, that the hospicull is transported to the land of hoarfrost and souls. Dethy plays the Game in the bunker, Oftcas' bunker is. a part of the hospicull. Thats what Oftcas is doing for pretty much the entire game. keeping it alive. Everyone she, Halfiron, and the Dehorner couldnt smuggle off planet goes on to Continua eventually... Yeah. a lot of what Plexus does on Continua is motivated at least in part to make old Declan proud.
Calixtus, Calixtus regrets everything. All of it. Even the stuff theyre would never have done any other way is absolutely soaked with regret, guilt, or both. They regret even using the scales, they feel guilt for everytjing they do for themself for a really long time, even when they dont, they still kind of do. Even when their time with Lykoii has made them kinder to themself, they still feel twinges of guilt for the smallest things, but most of all the thing that haunts them the most is how their bias affected Calfuray. How she ended up dying a true death to it in the end. Even if just for a moment. Like Plexus Calixtus is propelled by guilt, but theirs is far less functional, far more incapacitating, far more maladapted. We can thank Lumiss for Plex' comparative health. Thank you Lumiss... Lykoii helps *obviously* He helps literally so much. Your honor, they love eachother. .. guh. ough. guh.
