HC Question: How much does Kayn ascribe to traditional Ionian culture and mythology? Did growing up training in the temple separate him from the folk traditions and myths or is he fully aware of and invested in them?

The Order of Shadows is an organization that prides itself on being a break from tradition. Therefore, Kayn missed out on a lot of Ionian tradition. Religions, mythology, even certain social rituals just aren’t practiced in the Order. Some members still do practice these things in their spare time, and it’s not like it’s really an issue so long as they dedicate themselves to the Order, but Kayn never cared for most of them. 

The Lunar Revel is vaguely interesting to him, but night that the Blood Moon dawns intrigues him the most. That is a mythology that he bought into, of the Blood Moon being a prime moment for demons to spill forth from the Spirit Realm. He first read about it in the scrolls of Kinkou teachings kept in the Temple, when he was still learning to read and write Ionian, and he’s been interested ever since. He wanted to try to summon a Blood Moon demon at one point, like how edgy teenagers dabble into Satanism, but others in the Order warned him against it. 

He still has a mild interest. Thoughts here and there about how, once be truly ascends to godhood, he might look into contacting demons for their power. Probably a foolishly arrogant thing to do, but… well, being foolishly arrogant is how Kayn got to be where he is now.

his ionian upbringing taught him to be very... temperate with public displays of affection. though as he’s grown older, he’s honestly stopped caring. watch out, he might do something racy like hold your hand or kiss your cheek in public. 

in private, well.. that’s another matter.
