‘This was what really changed my mind, slowly, slowly changed my mind about China. It started here. Two foreign students — a South Korean, and a Japanese — told school authorities that we Chinese students were smoking and drinking alcohol. But they themselves also do this, it’s just they were never caught.
I asked him, “Why do this?” I said, “We invite you over for birthday celebrations, and we treat you like good friends, we share our food and wine with you.” The South Korean, I don’t know why — he just burst out laughing. He told me bluntly, “You’re Chinese, how can you think I’d actually be friends with you?”
After hearing this, I got so pissed off I exploded. I beat the shit out of him. I beat the shit out of him in the school. The next day, I got punished for it, as expected. And it was a very serious punishment. After three days, I thought, well if the school ends up dismissing me, then I — I’ll leave. Later I switched to another school, a university in Bangkok. I lived in a South Koreatown. Everyday, I go out and see South Koreans littering, doing whatever and throwing garbage out on the streets. Thai people would tell them in English to stop. And South Koreans, without blinking, would reply, “I am a Chinese.”
When these people do bad things, they throw their dirty water on the Chinese people. When these people do good things, they say “I am from South Korea”. I have never before encountered such a shameless people.’
‘This is not an isolated incident.
Wasn’t there a video before, where there was a Pakistani little brother who is the owner of a diner. A lot of Pakistanis own and operate fast food diners, right. On the front of his shop, he has a sign that says, “If you’re Chinese” — they have this meal set that’s free of charge, just for Chinese people.
There was a South Korean who went to take advantage of this free meal, saying they are a Chinese. But they were caught. This sort of thing always happens. There’s another video where a South Korean woman did something shameless, and then said she was a Chinese. Standing right beside her was a real Chinese, who filmed her and chased after her, asking “Where are you really from?” She finally admitted she is South Korean. All these years, it’s always been this way!’
‘It’s really true though. I — don’t know if this is some sort of national defect that they have. It’s not for me to judge either way.’
