“Those houses are really nice,” Callie commented. “I wish I could live in one of those. I like old houses. My apartment is nice though. It’s quaint and cozy. But really I’m just glad I don’t have to live under the same roof as my father anymore.”
She ate some of her snack as she thought about the man she unfortunately called her father and how horrible he was to her. She was grateful for her new home and the family she had with her friends.

Callie stumbled into the front office, out of breath. She was supposed to be helping out a new student this morning, showing her around the school, but she got off work late the night before and slept through her alarm this morning.
“Sorry, I’m late,” she said, straightening out her clothes and brushing loose hairs out of her face.
