“This was the first time I actually did a walk at Barren Grounds, I've been to the picnic area many times. It was very cold and very windy, and this may explain the lack of wildlife. There was lots of evidence of Wombats, tracks and scats, but they would have been somewhere warm. Before completing the Griffiths Track I did a couple of side tracks, Flying Fox Pass and Cooks Nose Lookout. I did manage to spot an Eastern Yellow Robin (Eopsaltria australis) and a Bird of paradise fly (Callipappus sp.) trying to deal with the windy conditions. One of the features of this walk is the natural stone bridge that crosses Lamonds Creek. The water flows under the rock. There is also a great view of the coast from the Illawarra Lookout which is only 1Km from the picnic area.”
Callipappus at 2:00 minutes in :)
