Meta writing thing: how he became a part of the church
Copia was technically part of the Church as a religion by his male ancestors. But being part of the Church as a community was a different matter.
Considered as a rival as soon as his father expressed the will to put him on the throne, he had twice as much work to do than any other to fit in. He had to prove himself obedient, but also useful to the community, which soon set him apart from the other young boys his age. Unlike them, the young Copia knew his very survival depended on the amount of knowledge he acquired. What could be more invaluable to the Church than a living encyclopedy?
In parallel of his studies with the copyist Sisters, he decided to initiate himself to medicine, just like his father. And he intended to be excellent at it. After he spent a decade learning with the nurses and the Chief Surgeon, the latter deemed Copia worth of practicing alone, and eventually let him take her place.
Even if his main fields of competences were surgery and serology, this didn’t keep him from exploring other subjects : after decades of deciphering, experimentations, and demonic invocations, he became the first man able to speak Enochian fluently. The Adamic language, even older than Hebrew, was both precious and dangerous : being the closest thing to the Divine Word, it could turn any statement into an absolute truth. Aware of the leaks risks, Copia ciphered all his researches.
From this moment, he was mastering a niche knowledge which also happened to be of a priceless theological worth. The Church had no interest in getting him on the wrong side, and made him a bishop, as a reward for his hard work they said. Copia was tempted of asking more, right now, but he sensed that a whimsical, scholarly man could easily end up stabbed in the back at night. Eventually, he was made a cardinal some decades later.
And he had no intention of stopping there.
