I feel that unless a character does something to deserve it, torture eps aren’t usually funny. SpongeBob got that problem later with some characters, Squidward in particular. Early episodes have him being a jerk to justify what happens to him later in that episode, but a lot of later seasons don’t do this, thinking that he deserves it cause he’s Squidward. I haven’t seen FOP in a long time, least of which is new FOP, but it sounded similar to that from what you said

It’s true- it’s something FOP and Spongebob share. They both suffer seasonal rot and need to end already. They’ve become very reliant on torture episodes, and with Spongebob it was one thing. But with FOP, torture episodes are weird. At least, when directed AT Timmy...

I wanna say this now that when I mean torture episodes, I don’t mean a character is a joke but is also never given screen time. A torture episode is just about tormenting one character throughout the whole episode. There are side characters that do get shitted on in an episode, but it’s a few scenes, and not just an agonizing episode about it. And they tend to deserve the torture in that one episode because of the way they were acting (though this isn’t always the case as there are one or two that just suffer as a small joke).

Timmy is just a little kid. Of course he’s going to be a little rude, selfish, and a little arrogant. He’s ten. Squidward is a grown adult. Him being a jerk can be used as a torture episode (and I mean like bad things like not selling his house, or dealing with Spongebob, not the torture he deals with now because there’s also so much body horror involved in it that even if he does deserve something bad happening, it should never be that cringe worthy). 

When Timmy’s a jerk, even in early FOP, it’s kinda hard to really be okay with some torture episodes. When they’re mild about it- Trixie doesn’t acknowledge him, a wish goes wrong, stuff like that- it’s okay because the episode tends to try and teach a lesson about certain things. Plus, unlike early Squidward, Timmy isn’t ALWAYS a jerk. That was a huge part of Squidward in early Spongebob, and why his ‘torture’ episodes were funny. You saw him be an ass for little to no reason, so you want him to suffer a bit to see that he needs to be, well, not an ass.

Timmy is sometimes a jerk. He IS selfish, he IS arrogant, but Timmy is also incredibly caring, and while not touched upon a lot, incredibly forgiving of people who have wronged him (whether it range from a misunderstanding with aliens to the harsher of his parents neglect). He’s not enough of a jerk to really deserve any extreme tortures (maybe there’s one or two episodes, but they don’t come to mind immediately). 

So the later seasons of FOP (not even THAT much later like season 5 onward) just got...really mean spirited with Timmy. Half the time episodes end with forcing him to just ENDURE some inane bullshit. While I DO like Balance of Flour, it’s got this...cruel aura, especially from Jorgen and Nana Boom Boom. Just...Stop. This kid is just doing that.

None of the bad shit to the extent that it GETS TO is warranted in my eyes. He’s just trying to live and be a little kid like c’mon... Let Timmy live a childhood that isn’t pull of abuse and pain that is APPARENTLY meant to be funny.

It’s not funny. It’s just disturbing at this point.
