i guess i'm wondering if you feel there's a material difference between collecting screenshots of things trans people say that are harmful to other trans people vs the isff situation? like we're all no strangers to using screenshots of people spreading rhetoric to make a point, so what makes this different from the people including yourself saying we condemn xyz for all the shit she said about trans men, and using screengrabs to back it up?
Posts made in response to a particular thing are not an issue, but collecting and archiving screenshots specifically to use as a reference for continuous vilification is.
As far as screenshots go, the closest I've skirted the line, IIRC, is when I posted several unrelated screenshots of cat----f------n saying horrific things for the sake of illustrating that one of her?* posts going around was disingenuous and malicious, but even that was still for the sake of rebutting one recent post in particular. I similarly did not mind @coremilk bringing up previous posts I made in response to stuff I was saying at the time, except for that unlike most TRFs she was, on occasion, aggravatingly capable of convincing me that I was wrong the first time.
There have also been a couple times where I've made posts - including at least one about ISFF - about being frustrated people keep supporting some individuals in spite of things like transphobia or being tankies, but even then I've always taken steps to space out how I talk about individual people to avoid even the appearance of feeding a mob. A post to the effect of "this person supports a genocidal state and it's frustrating that people keep ignoring that" is fair, IMO, especially when I'm making active efforts to keep things like that to an appropriate minimum** even for people I think are complicit in horrible things,*** but what's not fair is taking detailed logs of absolutely everything objectionable that mildly Tumblr famous trans woman has ever said to hype her up as an icon of wickedness that people need to be warned about, as though she's a monster that could pop out from under the bed at any moment and must be made into legend so that future generations can be on guard lest she ever return.
And there being three or four blogs, all uncreatively riffing on her name, to talk about her specifically and keep those logs? That's fucking ridiculous. Particularly because she fucking deleted her blog. Like, if you dislike ISFF for what she said, good news, you won, you achieved the maximum possible victory. They claim it was oh so necessary to chase her off the site so she couldn't continue casting her evil black magic hexes or whatever, but continuing to fixate on her when she has entirely removed herself from the table is blatantly pointless unless you simply hate trans women and want excuses.
*can't remember pronouns but am assuming based on this crowd's fondness for accusations of malicious they/themming
**Also, while the posts of the core stalkers going after ISFF and similar trans women consistently get few notes, I know that my audience is much smaller than ISFF's AND most people don't care about the things that I dislike her for, whereas when it comes to That One Thing her stalkers are preaching much more to the choir. A huge number of her own following turned against her on this, which makes the hate blogs with their small direct audiences even more egregious in their completely unnecessary overkill.
***This mostly means people nominally on "our side," not Christofascists, TERFs, and so on. Tankies are in a weird position because I loathe them but still extend them these rules of engagement because I'm more capable of recognizing their humanity than, for instance, Matt Walsh's. A 'progressive' vatnik is a tiny bit better than a tradortho vatnik. That said, the difference may mainly only exist because most people are simply ignorant of how scumfuckingly evil tankies are and the very real harm they contribute to, so I have to some extent tolerate their presence and accept that they're afforded rights by the consensus. I certainly wish people cared way more than they do about tankies and didn't treat it as normal. Like, I don't really have a choice there. In any case though, even if 'progressive' tankies were seen as badly as they ideally should be, callout blogs are still weird as fuck and serve no purpose other than being Two Minute Hate bullshit that's almost always used against marginalized people for some mysterious reason.
