I want to know what you think:
So my husband and I have been discussing our beliefs about where children/babies go when they die. This is a super emotional topic for a lot of people, but our emotions shouldn't control our theology. So I want to know what you all think.
Here's my dilemma. A lot of people say all babies go to heaven. A lot of people claim there is an "age of accountability" or something similar. The problem is that I don't see that in the Bible.
What I DO see is that the Bible repeats over and over that ALL men are guilty. ALL have sinned, and the wages for sin is death. It says that the wicked go astray from the womb and that we are conceived in sin. That we are by nature children of wrath. The Bible doesn't seem to support any claims that babies are "innocent".
Then, I read about how Jesus is the ONLY way to God. How His blood ALONE covers our sin. Yes, God is merciful, but He is also explicitly clear that faith in Christ is the SOLE means of salvation. If we were to say that babies go to heaven, we would have to conclude that Jesus' blood is merely one way to God.
So my question to you all is this: Where to babies go when they die? And IF you say they go to heaven, how do you reconcile the fact that this negates faith alone?
(Honestly, I'd love to go to heaven one day and see that God has given eternal life to babies and kids... I just don't see how the Bible supports this.)
