Calw and Hirsau
The third town that I visited on this day was Calw. This town, with about 23700 inhabitants, is located in the north of the Black Forest. It was founded in the 11th century. In the old town you can admire many beautiful old halftimbered houses.
After strolling through Calw I continued to Hirsau. There you can visit the ruins of the former abbey. The abbey was also inaugurated in the 11th century. In earlier times it was one the most important monasteries in Germany. In wartime, it was burned down in 1692.
