News from the fields
This week we have been very lucky to have had two wonderful groups of student in from Capel Manor. The college uses our site to teach their students various things around food growing and this time of year, we have lots of planting out to do in our polytunnels. One of the groups comes up from Regent’s park, where the college teach Fruit and Veg growing. This group did an amazing job or clearing our beds of peppers, chilis and flowers and planting out our salad rocket. The Level 3 Horticulture group planted out our spring onions. The winter planting is slowly getting done.
We’d also like to introduce our new Farm Manger Angelika Hauses. Angelika has been running an innovative cattle business, CamCattle in Cambridge, and has worked closely with the Cambridge Sustainable Food network. She is very excited about having joined the farm and I hope you all get to meet her soon.
December events are coming up soon and we’ll have our yearly Wreath Making workshop on Sunday 9th December 10am – 4pm. Have a tramp around the farm, gathering your foliage from the farm’s trees and hedgerows, then head back to the Black Barn to create your festive door wreath to take home. - tickets £5
It’s also our Farmer’s Market that day so please do come along to say hello, get your festive veg and enjoy a day at Forty Hall.
