You know what, as much as I love all the Klamille scenes from 3x19, I do not like how they made her death all about Klaus. All of her friends had to take a step back and lose their chances of saying goodbye while she could still have interacted with them, and that was SO NOT right.

Cami was Klaus’ love interest, and as much as it annoys me to say it, a lot of her arc was wrapped up in Klaus, but she held value as a character outside of him. She supported other characters (Marcel, Davina, Vincent, Hayley) and looked out for them frequently. They were all busy running around trying to find a cure for her, which was important, but the writing did not have to be such that she didn’t get to bid adieu to these friends she loved so much.

To me, this feels like the writers having to compensate for putting so much unnecessary drama in Cami and Klaus’ relationship and never letting them just be happy together for a little while. When the time came for them to kill her off, they had to scramble to put in scenes which would appease angry fans a bit and give their relationship a satisfying conclusion.

We deserved scenes of Cami telling other characters what she wanted them to get from her, not just her saying it all to Klaus. We deserved to see her hear that she meant so much to all of them, because of how much comfort and joy she brought into their lives. Right before she died, she was self-deprecatingly telling Klaus that she wished she had done more than serve a few drinks and fail completely as his therapist, which he refuted, but she still only heard what she did for him. She deserved to hear all of the things others were saying to her dead body, while she was alive.

All in all, my girl deserved so much better. She did get a beautiful episode dedicated to her when she was unfairly killed off, but there was more that should have been done.

I'm so happy to see someone actually call out the obvious grooming in Marcel and Rebekah's relationship. Seriously, the worst part is people use that ship to uplift a white woman (the groomer) in a very, uh wack and racist way.

but the writers didnt care about the poc characters enough to give them decent love stories. Marcel and Cami were cute but even then it was just a plot device for klaus to be jealous and then they just fizzled out in s2 (theres a whole episode worth of Marcille deleted scenes)

Vincent's love interests were all killed or just written off, where tf did that momma from s4 go...no one knows. Yusuf Gatewood even said he thought vincent was in love with Cami but the writers refused to explore it...and then he just became the freelin surrogate

DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON FREELIN.....if that ship has one hater....its me

anyways i went off topic lmfao but yeah Marcel deserved better than what he got. Bex couldve easily been given another love interest or not one at all, considering Cl*ire was barely in the show

Hi all! 

So, I have had this URL saved for awhile and finally decided to do something about it.  Some of you might already know me as irishcookie.  I run The Bennett Diaries which is dedicated to Bonnie Bennett.  For the most part I share my fic, make fic recs and reblog gif sets (occasionally I make edits of my own but they are no where near as beautiful as what others can do).  

I would like to set up a similar place for Camille O’Connell.  So viola, The O’Connell Diaries is born.  It is a sideblog to TBD but I hope to have as much fun here as I do there.  I have never written Cami as a main character in fic before (but I do rp her on the indie scene) so please be kind as I try this out! 

I’d love to start with some small drabbles and I love love love requests.  So here it goes: 

Send me a ship (any Cami ship, canon or non), and a word and I’ll see what I can come up with!

Is it just who thinks Cami in 4x02 is some sort of ghost and not Klaus’s hallucination? I probably shouldn’t get too excited because JP has managed to crush my Klamille heart more times than I thought was possible. In the 4x02 promo, Cami tells Klaus “You’re the reason you’re family is still alive.” She’s reassuring him, trying to make him feel better. Doesn’t seem like something Klaus’s brain could conjure up. He’s not exactly good at making himself feel better. He thinks the worse of himself (Most of the time). Idk, it just feels like Cami, not Klaus’s wishful thinking. 

Also, I didn’t actually see the first episode completely, but I’ve seen the scenes with Klaus and there’s absolutely no hint of him hallucinating about her. You can never be sure with these writers but I think it’d be too random for him to suddenly start hallucinating after five years.

Also, the whole TVD finale thing happened (Haven’t seen that episode either. I already knew about Stefan. I loved him way too much, like I loved Camille. And I decided my shipper heart didn’t need that blow.) But I know A LOT of dead people are back. 

Idk. It just seems like she’s a ghost? Any thoughts on that?

Also, I read this interview where Yusuf Gatewood said that in his mind, he never really thought of Cami as Vincent’s friend. He thought of it more as unrequited love. I never thought of it like that before reading that interview and watching back some scenes (Yes, I’m still stuck up on Cami. Don’t judge me). I thought it was a possibility and I may have missed it. Watching some 4x01 scenes, it feels like Klaus isn’t the only one who couldn’t let Cami go. He went to Klaus, even reminded him of Cami and the goodness she inspired in her. Everything Vincent did over the past five years, building a sort of refuge for anyone who was tired of the ‘same old’ was something Cami would’ve been proud of. It feels like he’s really trying to honour the promise he made her and keep alive Cami’s wish. I felt really happy that at least the writers remembered that she had an impact on every one in the show, not just Klaus. I like the fact at least Vincent is trying his best to not let her be forgotten.

I agree with you that it makes more sense for Cami to be a ghost if she is telling Klaus things he couldn’t know. And why wouldn’t he hallucinate her wearing something familiar? On the other hand, Michael Narducci said that Cami’s appearance had something to do with Klaus’ psychological state, which seems more like an hallucination than an apparition--unless it’s because Cami has been watching over him and knows he needs her “presence” at that moment. But I can’t remember from watching the TVD finale whether ghosts can interact with the “living”?

Either way, they have confirmed that Cami appears in only one episode so these are the last face-to-face Cami/Klamille scenes we’re going to get.

I saw Yusuf’s comments too, but I think the viewer can interpret their scenes equally as either subtle romantic longing on Vincent’s part or platonic love. But whether Vincent had some romantic feelings for Cami or not in canon, she certainly had an impact on his life as well as Klaus’. It is nice that she was remembered in the first episode (though honestly I wouldn’t expect her name to pop up very often after 4x02), 

I’m going to enjoy seeing Cami again, probably get bitter and angry again at the end of the episode and then give up on the show. My advice, for what it’s worth, is not to expect too much. In my opinion, it’s a ploy simply to get enraged Cami fans to keep watching the show on the pretext that she will have a “presence” in Season 4.
