NIИE.
Uncalled for, but not appalled.
Startled all odds, and unexpected.
Showed me what it means to stand tall,
Encouraged me to not drop hard from another fall.
I may not have it all, so let it become a piece of me.
Others may be whole, but I can survive off the smallest,
And still laugh til I cry, smile as I'll die.
I used to go with the flow, like I was always told.
That saying just never got old.
Til one day the ocean dried, and the tide receded.
My eyes were haunted, I just didn't believe it.
Now one thing, and one thing only keeps me going.
I'm racing my heartbeat, soon it will be slowing.
Because someday, when we're all at peace.
Maybe we'll be set free.
Five.
This sequence of phases,
The fundamental process of bitter times
Is the stepping stone for greater achievements.
You can go with the flow for only so long,
Until the tide dies down, and the ocean dries.
And if the advice of one not relevant to your future decides to loosen their lips,
Listen carefully, but never let it conclude you.
Hard times are a walking paradox, and they assist you well.
Before you blow a concussion from the thought of giving up,
A dead vein revives and blood rushes through.
I am awake, and tending to my faults.
With awareness and good intentions.
Although it may seem a little average at my point in life,
We face it like our foundation of individuality is collapsing.
I'm aching but the feeling is becoming accustomed,
To what is always going to be there.
I shake hands with what's meant to be,
And call it peace from there.
Three.
There is no excuse if you say nothing at all,
And there's nothing you can do to stop them from thinking otherwise.
If you keep her waiting, she can only assume.
When you decide to recite those three words,
Make sure she's still listening.
Better make sure she's not wandering off,
To find the temporary happiness that fills the voids of all she's missing.
Time has us by the wrists, chokes us by the main artery.
Makes a fist with my cardiac muscle.
It mutes my words, sticking it's fingers of mistakes down my throat.
Whispering haunting fears into my ears.
Forcing itself to be real in my eyes.
Becoming scars that represent me.
Attraction&Connection.
If I could distinguish the difference between connection and attraction,
I'd paint a picture of it's revelation onto my eyelids.
I can see nothing but everything.
Perhaps the dark is hiding something the light is not meant to acknowledge.
As I walk on this stone road, rocks crawl their way into my worn out shoes.
Reminds me of the stones that were meant to break my bones,
Years ago when my pride was below my own shadow.
I'm deafened by the silence that haunts the sound of reality,
With every breath, it slowly spreads throughout my veins.
And reminds me not to forget about the face that made this all familiar.
The person that gave accountability to my underdog efforts.
If there were a source to my actions,
That would mean there would have to be a reason.
If reason is what I'm searching for,
Then my actions lack origin.
I'm just living my life on the thread that sews my eyes shut.
So I can only see connection and attraction.
And it's you.
One.
I remember pretending we were invisible to the world that looked down on us. As we went nights exploring abandoned buildings, Finding fascination in their age. I remember all of my friends walking side by side, smoking cigarettes. And people told us that it wasn't good for our health, But they never understood the way we let our breath out After inhaling through our strong lungs, They never understood what panic we were trying to ease. And I still believe we wear our broken hearts on our sleeves. But we made it look simple as we existed hand in hand, Showing no sense of pain or suffering. I recall having dreams once, spending all our time in the woods Wondering what the future was leading us to, Wandering through the roads beneath the stars, Trying to save our youth even though we lost it long ago. Remember not our flaws, Remember not our differences. It is not our mistakes that define us. But the way we define them.
Repeat : : : : : : : Do you get it now.
Though I can't deny my heart from growing color.
I drive myself to an edge that welcomes young souls,
That can't accept the reality of emotion and it's fragile form.
Could I be that face with relentless intentions,
Like the ones I let the past butcher like photographs to the rain.
Am I just repeating myself to the same person,
Just different appearance.
Am I making a mistake to unleash my honesty,
So it becomes vulnerability.
I constantly remind myself to remember the steps I've been taking.
Because if I must go back, finding home won't be hard.
But it won't be easy either.
If my mind could erase with time,
I'd pour myself a glass of wine.
And watch the sunset before my eyes.
I'll forget about the things that could even anchor gravity.
I'll say goodbye to the days where I just existed.
So I can live where people and things could never be missed.
Because they will always be there.
