My wife and I recently went on a road trip during which my Nikon N90S died. RIP buddy!

Anyway, these are the last shots from that the N90S. A few years ago I was gifted a well used but functional Nikon FA, so I have been trying that out recently.

Am debating weather or not to get another N90 - this was my second one. The first I shot 2006-2011 before the shutter jammed, this one I bought in 2019 and the failure was electronic.

Fellow middle/teen regressors, I need advice! I've been thinking about buying a camera for photography, but I want a camera that makes the pics look like they were taken in the early 2000's! Problem is that there's a lot of cameras out there and I'm not sure what would work best for me. I found some character cameras (Sanrio and Miffy) but I think they use film? They're really cool but I don't know if a Polaroid type camera would work for me. I'm used to using digital cameras. I dunno what to start looking for!! I'd consider a camera that takes film depending on price I guess. I'm not trying to spend a ton on a camera. But if anyone is familiar with different camera types help me out! What would work best for that early 2000's look?

That was on a Canon R7, with an EF/RF adapter and a Canon 100-400mm lens.

But truly, that was a fluke of luck and I had no idea i could take photos like that.

(For those who don’t know, Leica is the elite camera brand. Their film cameras are still worth thousands to this day when the popular Canon AE-1 can be found for $100-$300. It is a dream of most photographers to own a Leica film camera or one day have a digital camera for work.)

There's the Australian dudes that make radial 3s & they are both air & liquid cooled. Perfect for something this size & weight, especially if you get a 2 pack of 3. Meaning a stacked radial making it 6 total cylinders, they use a parallel twin crank, typically, 180 offset or similar to make them work. They sited around 300hp off of the youtube video they put out with them put into a dune buggy & something else going over there manufacturing facility. I love radials, so I'm biased, but weight distribution is a big deal & torque is too. They can be made to go to some seriously high rpm when stacked as well.

From some of the stuff I've learned so far, a lower mm wide angle lens for that camera might help with framing the shot better; for example during the boat shot going over everything & getting to the heat exchanger I know keeping Emelia in center frame is what is wanted, because yeah views dude (duh), you missed him talking towards you & the camera.

That stuff can get helped with that lower mm wide angle stuff, like nothing below 16mm in general for things just because of the fish eye effect & distortion problem that starts to happen.

Although that's a general rule of thumb, some don't have it (I'm fairly sure you know, but just in case), as for that one if you are using a full frame sensor then you might have been able to get away with 20mm or in that range lens. You might be able to help yourselves with filming if you can get a good gimble that holds the camera well for you.

I think I saw dji has a full camera holder & make. art. now. (youtuber) just released his showcase of a convention that had one on the show floor. So, I dunno, maybe?

Typically, from what people say online, its a set of lenses, like telephotos that are on the smaller side mm range then a main primary mm that is just that mm then a larger all rounder telephoto with a wider range of mm but also has a greater distance it can be used from & has, typically, a further distance to use it from start.

A small f-stop number is supposed to be super good for a larger number of total lighting use cases & it pays to have spent the money (even used) on good lenses.

(I'm still upset about my compression destroying my quality on my latest video. I just sent it after davinci but it still looks, eh.)

awesome stuff, love the camera work btw. worth it to see if a more comprehensive zoom lens exists, maybe? I dunno, just a standard 25mm or 16 to 35mm might be worth it, like the old Zeiss Sony collab for walking around, I know it would be hard to hold that dude too so something that helps like a gimble spring stick thing or something. Or just an ultra small compact full frame lens that fits the mm you are needing that then can be swapped out for those up to 600/800mm with the teleconverter adapter mounts to increase it from 800 to 1600mm zooms (...LOL but kinda want to see what that would be~!) dji mic killing it, the amazing dji camera worked amazingly well in the one convenience store towards the end with Michael wearing it.

Seriously, I think that might have been compression & or just straight up optical image stabilization not working together with the digital & in body stabilization causing the difference in outright quality. Because I know for a fact that camera smokes that dji camera, so maybe it was something going on with compression across multiple people & the back & forth loss over generations, or it that plus something not set up with the camera.

Those microphones full on heros as others have said throughout, crazy good. The full frame cameras coming in hot with great footage when it had light & all that, but it seems something was holding it back. Look, to be honest & direct about it, I am thinking it was compression loss over time that hurt it. Those details are there & incredible, but when the smaller files of the dji & or other cameras come in they don't lose as much & it shows. I still enjoyed the show, dude, don't even, but like... If I spent that amount of money I would want that to be there the entire time. Its brutal.

Great series & I can see why you want to keep doing them. It gets you away from being an always on personality that has to perform, while being a normal-ish person around others that you then get to use an camera excuse to mess up & the excuse of not being a person from there. That's nice, for real! Dude! It would be amazing to just be a person that others treat more kindly because they don't immediately jump to you using them & or trying to get one over on them. Let alone an chat that likes to go after any and all good in your life at times.

That vertical handheld seems like it would be something better with just lenses. What were they thinking not using a first pass mirror to bounce it back to a sensor in the handle! That seems so much easier to get stabilization in the handle, mirror, & lens! Anyways, it also helps with different top attachments for different styles of lenses that can be attached & balanced in the rear for better zoom & so on. It just seems like a missed opportunity when they also have the cup gimbles that people can buy & 3d print.

I mean a handle bar attached cup gimble thing that holds that vertical handheld camera you guys had? (I've clearly forgotten the name, excuse me on that one) That seems like a pretty quick get on the stabilization & image quality upgrade.

No, I don't think it would be safe to use your dslr camera on something like that.... Do-able, yes, safe no. Maybe with a full box frame around it & a really robust double handle bar mount with shocks or something that isn't likely to tear away with a fall or something, but even then its spicy.

Anyways, great stuff dudes, love the edits, love the music & more choices for how things lined up & worked out. They make you look good, don't forget the value of that. Not that you weren't making sure to get good footage, just there are some easy ways to have a person look terrible when doing something like this.
