My 2016-17 Showreel
Who knew camera trainee jobs could be so hard to find...
A is for Alpha
A new post!
This post does not come from old school book notes or research findings... this is a post based on an experience on set. Yes, I've dedicated this summer to film! We'll see what this dedication brings. For now, I was able to get a 2 day experience on a short film called Tortuous. My position was Camera Trainee. I got to do a number of things, including:
- Getting lenses - Slating - Placing marks
It was a great experience -- my first experience as part of a camera department. I got to work with an awesome crew, including: Jeff Wheaton (DOP), Darcy Fraser (1st AC), and Kristin Mombourquette (2nd AC) -- they were all super generous and supportive in my learning experience. Speaking of what I learned...
THE ALPHABET
So, I found out that A is NOT for Apples, and W does not stand for Whiskers. There's a system to slate, and that system uses the military phonetic alphabet.
Yup. Pretty cool :)
Until next time,
