Logan briefly freezes in shock, before kissing you back with an intensity that leaves you breathless.

Their hands find the familiar places that they used to touch when you were together. They get lost in it, until the sound of the security guard barking at the two of you to leave pulls them from their trance.

You pull away, "Sorry, it was the only thing I could think of to avoid any suspicion."

The realization washes over them, that this was just a distraction, and their heart drops into their stomach.

They're unusually quiet for the rest of the night, the warmth in their eyes now clouded with disappointment.

Brooks pulls back as soon as your lips touch theirs. As you meet their eyes, they look back at you with an emotion that you've never seen in them before.

"What are you doing?" They whisper.

Then they hear the loud footsteps down the hall. Reading your panicked expression, they place a hand on your cheek and softly return the kiss.

The moment that you're in the clear they pull away abruptly, immediately turning their focus to gathering the information that you came here for.

When they lift their head to look at you again, their stoic mask is now back in place.

"Alright, let's go." Their serious tone betrays no emotion, and they rush to the door without sparing you another glance.

As you lean in Cameron puts their hand on your arm to stop you, their brows furrowing in irritation ... no, not irritation, fear.

As the booming of the footsteps gets louder, you look at them with desperation, "Trust me."

They scan your face and, as you look in their eyes, you can see the internal conflict that's waging in their mind.

Just when you think you've run out of time they give you a small nod, before they meet your lips fervidly.

They avoid you for a week afterwards and, when they do finally talk to you again, they're even more cold and distant than they were before.

Logan feels their heart inflate at the sight of you cuddled up to them, followed by a tinge of sadness. this scene is all too familiar, it reminds them of when this used to be a consistent part of their daily routine.

they know that you rarely get any rest, so they allow you to sleep for as long as you need. they remain very still, letting you nuzzle into them, even though it hurts to have you so close to them when they know that you two aren't together anymore.

*file Brooks-exe has shut down, system reboot in progress* - they're very flustered (this is shocking to literally no one). their brain is shouting at them to move but they stay there for a moment longer, relishing in how comfortable they feel being so close to you.

then they carefully untangle themselves from you, making sure not to wake you. they hope you don't bring it up later, as they'd prefer to just pretend it didn't happen.

Cameron immediately takes your arm to remove you but they pause as soon as they touch you, taking in peaceful you look. an unfamiliar feeling courses through them and they remain frozen in place, trying to discern what it is that they're feeling.

before they can figure it out, they snap back to reality, now hyper-aware of how you're draped over them. they push themselves out of bed and hastily march over to the door, not bothering to see if they've woken you up or not.

Logan can feel their heartbeat quicken as you lean forward, close enough to ... okay, they have to say something to break the tension. "Hey, if you wanted to get close you coulda just asked.” They attempt to say in a playful tone, but it comes out strained.

You grab something off the shelf behind them and then pull away. They feel their heart deflate, Of course they weren’t going to kiss me, c’mon Logan, pull it together.

Brooks immediately goes red at your close proximity. “What are you --” They can’t get the words out, which usually isn’t a problem for them. They’re frozen in place just waiting - hold on, what are they waiting for? it’s not like they want to kiss you ...

As you grab what you needed and move away from them, they take a deep breath to try and compose themselves. When they’re unable to do so, they turn on their heel and quickly leave the room.

Cameron tenses up, “What the hell are you doing?” They immediately snap at you, but it doesn’t come out as harsh as they intended ... and for some reason they don’t make any effort to move away.

You don’t answer them, turning away once you’ve grabbed what you needed. They feel a hot flush run down their neck, why the fuck do I feel like this? “Hey, don’t do that shit again.” They call out to you, before moving to go sit down somewhere as far away as possible from you.

Logan: maann, this has been happening to them for years. they've gotten good at just forgetting about it and going on with their day but, some days, they can't stop their mind from wandering back to the dream.

Brooks: immediate panic, they're not supposed to feel like this about a client. for the rest of the day you can tell that they're not as focused as they usually are, and they keep avoiding eye contact.

Cameron: at first, they assume it's just because you two spend so much time together. if it continues, they're confused and also annoyed with themselves - they're a lot snappier with you when you see them.
