Today I did the weirdest thing in the world; I got to drive an Eastern European Skoda 105 around a test track. Wrong side of the road, no power steering, no disk brakes, and engine at the wrong end. Two weeks of R&R

Ciao tutti! So after being a complete idiot and injuring myself 4 days before training ended, I was on doctors orders to have time off before starting work. Damn shame, 3 weeks of R&R after working harder than I ever have in my life! 

Luckily I was able to take that time off in Rome. Now I always thought that I hated this city, however 2 weeks here has made me realise otherwise. I have never stayed in the city itself, and I have always stayed at campsites *shudders*. This time though I have been lucky enough to stay in 2 incredible areas! 

After arriving from Paris at 1 am (thanks delayed Ryanair!), I was lucky enough to have a hotel room near Termini (first room alone in 10 weeks!), which is so close to all of the main attractions. I lost count of the amount of times I would go for a walk and stumble across one of the landmarks of the city, because you know when you’re casually walking around (and slightly lost) and “stumble upon” the Colosseum is quite cool!

This week I have had the chance to stay in an area that more realistically represents modern Roman life - San Lorenzo, which is the university area! Walking down streets where bars spill onto the streets at all hours of the day, where the drinks are only €2.50 - and I’m talking spirits - or where a panini and coffee for lunch only costs €3. I have definitely come to the conclusion that we are paying way too much in Australia for these basics! $8 for a sandwich and $4 for a coffee is ridiculous! 

With one more week off before I start work, I am going to enjoy, relax and probably consume way too much wine, pasta, pizza and other Italian delicacies! Arrivederci for now!

After 7 weeks, more study than I've ever done, learning basics of so many languages, constantly trying to not confuse Slovakia and Slovenia, and getting the chance to meet the most amazing people in the world, training is almost over! This time tomorrow I will be pulling into Paris and getting ready to say goodbye to the people who are basically now family (sorry mum and dad, you now have another 40-ish kids). So since I last updated you on my actions a hell of a lot has happened: countries visited - Croatia, Slovenia, Italy, Austria, Germany (again), France (again) and Switzerland (again). I've had a complete blast visiting so many places I've never been, like Croatia where we got the chance to spend the day on one of the Croatia Sail boats! While boats are not my thing (cue vomiting) I can say that this was an amazing way to spend a day off, drinking, dancing and eating with everyone while getting . In Slovenia we were caught in a freak late snow storm in Lake Bled - so of course we spent our time playing in the snow, a novelty for all of us who had never seen snow before! Snowball fights, snowmen building and Snow Angels. Getting the chance to go all over Austria was really cool, especially getting to explore Vienna (picture perfect is an understatement) and Salzburg (where of course a few of us did sound of music songs). However my most favourite thing so far this trip would of course have to be returning to my favourite country in the world; Italia! The south loop is definitely the one I love the most and can't wait to work, especially getting to return to Florence regularly! As most of you know I am a complete idiot and managed to fracture my shoulder, so I will be starting later than planned, but damn shame, this means 3 weeks off in Rome! What a hard life! This whole training trip has been an amazing opportunity and none of this would have been possible without the fantastic trainers who have been so helpful this whole trip, and for whom I'll be forever grateful towards! It's hard to believe just over 2 months ago I was boarding a plane to start this crazy adventure, and now here I am about to start the coolest job in the World! You'll just all have to come and visit!
