Thankfully, he was able to see reason rather quickly -- and painlessly -- but Salvador still wasn't pleased. "Anyway. “Cami — hey,” Tommy called, waving as the blonde came into view, a cigarette hanging lazily from his lips. He was among the growing crowd of patrons who’d migrated to the event’s designated smoke area, seeking a little reprieve. Truth be told, he felt a little out of place among all the decadence, all the decorum. At least the yacht party had been more laid-back, despite the opulence — here, it felt like everything was on display, people included. But this was the first big event he’d attended since his sister died, and he was determined to enjoy himself. For as long as he could, anyway. “You need a cigarette?” he offered, already fishing his pack from his pocket. He extended it her way with a crooked, knowing smile. “Figured I’ve bummed enough of yours.” How many over the years, he couldn’t say. Most of their run-ins blurred together — he’d rarely been sober.
