As the child of immigrants raised in the Americas, life was no walk in the park. The duality of Camila's Puerto-Rican and Guatemalan heritage intricately intertwined with American culture, painted her world in vibrant colors. While she aimed to be the best daughter and keep her parents proud and happy, she also longed to freely indulge in the same freedoms and activities as her friends.
The daughter of the police chief and a respected pediatrician, Camila faced added pressure in her life. Her brother, Carlos, was seen as the golden child, while she was considered the well-rounded, eloquent, and kindhearted daughter of the family. It was no surprise when Carlos pursued a career in law enforcement and Camila chose to become a nurse.
After receiving a full ride scholarship, Camila moved to Boston to attend Boston College. Upon graduating, she started her nursing career in the Boston area. She considered herself to be a brilliant, compassionate, and fabulous nurse, as confirmed by her patients. Trained in the ICU, Camila witnessed numerous miracles along with the highs and lows of her job. However, she also faced challenges, such as dealing with a deceitful and unethical doctor. Despite addressing the doctor's wrongdoings, Camila was terminated, her license was revoked, and she was blacklisted from participating in any premier healthcare organization.
After feeling completely lost, Camila returned home to Maine. Her hometown had always been an anchor for her, but now her parents had moved on to the next stage of their lives and her brother was living successfully in Colorado. She knew it was time to figure out something new for herself. One opportunity led to another, and she's been working as a personal assistant while she explores her true desires and passions. Life has a way of working itself out, and Camila's hope has been restored that she will soon find her path again.
