oh yeah jon and head are still in this too. jon is a vampire, head gets experimented on in a sexy way.
josh silver is retired from Type O to be an EMT, like in real life. he's also a werewolf. no word on whether peter steele really was a vampire yet.

it looks like this but it's missing a tail! its name is Joey, it sleeps on a coffee cup and eats fruit. i guess that is most of what it does with or without him, if i think about it.

lets break em down
so there are a few big chunks of story so far, fortunately one of my special interests is taxonomy and i have a fetish for project management [1].

basically two main eras:
- a youngish high school + summer camp setting [late teens/twenties]. most of the aesthetics here are from that part of the setting, which has a lot of ~magical stuff beyond the heart of camp.
and! an undead hospital drama, including Nurse Jim from the camp health centre.
most of the events concerning the aesthetics described in this paper [I'll lean into it, eh] take place at the summer camp through Nurse Jim's adventures leading camping trips with Mick.[5]
[5] tbh, that does kinda let me fold those two jobs into one - it seems pretty cromulent that the health centre would assign someone like Nurse Jim on long trips

BUT YEAH. i found will's music on tumblr years ago and it's been a longtime favourite and a bedrock of my post-rock landscape.

list of things we know about Nurse Jim so far! [2]
tea drinker [1] but indulges in sweet hot drinks from the vending machine, especially vanilla.
ex-smoker. secret vaping habit.
magically good at getting kids to drink medicine. he just lines them up and it goes down the hatch.
great at decorating cookies, has an open baking habit, always brings something seasonal.
[busy with work though, so there's actually not much in his kitchen except baking stuff. has some specialized pans and ingredients, too)
Bonus: C.O.R.E. and S.I.D. the surgery-imaging-coffee robots, are also at pediatrics to do checkup scans and minor procedures and stuff.
jim would basically have many human children and two adult robots to mind xD

(i swear this one is relevant, @custer-mp3 and i know from our time at coffee shops that the bikerish guys are often quite endearingly big tea drinkers. but he likes sending kids with coins to get him snacks and beverages)

lecturing about vampire pharmacopoeia with @custer-mp3 (with @in-death-we-fall on the subject of certain undead cokeheads). also excited to page @ims0vain who was interested to hear about joey's cocaine woes xD

iii-days-grace: oh and anaesthesia as drug play of course. that kinda was why i wanted to use jon and head since they've struggled irl although this is more fun. that gave me a lot of ideas about the vampire pharmacopeia.
iii-days-grace: vampires need life force, so drugs from plants or animals work best. fungi are iffy since they're also undead. LSD as well as antibiotics would be unpredictable to just not work well, or at all. let's say anything that doesn't have a nameable species attached is a no go.
iii-days-grace: vampires are long lived to where they're functionally immortal, but very slow-growing, like a reptile. they can heal from injuries on their own, given time. they can get sick, but it's not a common problem.
iii-days-grace: joey and wednesday get up to recreational drugs as well haha). @in-death-we-fall figured it would be funny if joey couldn't do a line anymore and had to chew the leaves because they were more natural. (The idea of vampires doing herbal witchery attracted me for sure. I've been doing a lot of goopy henna stuff for my hair < the secret haircare advice).
iii-days-grace: plants are most reliable because idk, most remedies are basically all plants and that makes research way easier.
iii-days-grace: the idea being the closer to the living thing the drug or medicine is, the better it works for vampires.
iii-days-grace: All this to say, bugs is living things, and Spanish fly actually does work as an aphrodisiac for vampires. Life force! Just so happens that it's green.
iii-days-grace: i just really like the idea of vampires popping shiny green beetles as boner pills. drugs as bugs. bug drugs. bugs rug.
so there's undead, who were human at some point and died in some way, and there's also mortal-magical creatures like witches, who chose that path but still live a normal human life and lifespan otherwise.
witchery is mundane in the sense that you're still all human, but you do have the ability-skills to influence magic. like the coffee witches at the hospital, because ofc coffee is magic and hospitals run on coffee.
as for witch familiars, cats are traditional only because witchery is a practice and therefore takes time, and old people have cats. but i guess any creature at least as magical could be one, like Nurse Jim's pet gecko, so there is wiggle room for sure
