I can’t believe 8 years ago, we set forth on our first camp that would inadvertently change our lives forever (I think anyway). Peter had originally proposed a daytrip to Maroondah Reservoir and it ended up being decided we’d be camping that night too. I’ve probably written a post about it on our blog awhile back but I can still remember the sense of joy as we set forth upon this new adventure, soaking in the new sights whilst experiencing the first iteration of the Rayes Outdoors Roadtrips mix. Still hands down one of my favourite camps of all time 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 // 2011 . . . #backseatballads #camp1 #lasttoknow #rayesoutdoors #rayesoutdoorsmix (at Maroondah Reservoir Park) https://www.instagram.com/p/B5ykk_EF_y_/?igshid=1wvme19lx3fev
I haven’t been on a camp in over two years so I’m currently doing inventory on all the things I have at this moment. Pots and pans that need to be cleaned, ingredients that need to be replenished and tents that need to be aired out... in some ways it’s reminds me of our first time going on camp and over-preparing by bringing everything we thought we would need. It may have been a struggle back then with limited car space but now with many of the guys (including myself) owning larger cars we can go that little bit extra and go full glamping ✌🏻 // 2011 . . . #backseatballads #camp1 (at Yarra Valley) https://www.instagram.com/p/ByhKFOpJhEa/?igshid=jzmepdpqbzn9
Lots of people tend to ask me where I’ve been to during my stay in Japan. There’s probably a level of disappointment when they discover I’ve mostly been in the Kansai area. As much as I’d love to visit other areas, for me there’s great satisfaction in trying to really explore and get to know where I’m staying. In many ways it was the same when we started Backseat Ballads: lots of people were surprised to discover we had so many amazing camping and scenic spots in Victoria that they would never have known about until they saw our photos (and for the dedicated fans, read our blog post). Its ironic because I’ve gotten the same response from my Japanese friends who are surprised when they discover how much I’ve explored around Osaka/Kyoto. Let’s just say my cafe game is strong whether it’s back in Melbourne or here in Japan 😉☕️ // 2011 . . . #backseatballads #camp1 #bsb5years #humannature #lasttoknow #rayesoutdoors #welivetoexplore #lifeofadventure #letsgosomewhere #livefolk #visitmelbourne #stayandwander #wandervictoria #visualsoflife #mytinyatlas #exploreaustralia #igersmelbourne #camp #cathedralranges #mtdonnabuang #coffee (at Mount Donna Buang) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bo-z3ZxAyNg/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1fz95mrxb0qe3
