It's 12:36am at the time I started writing this post, but fuck it, it's been a day, here's my thoughts on campaign IV and how it's shaking out.

Overall? Hell yes.

My greatest fear was assuaged...with the tiniest bit of a monkey's paw curl. I've made it no secret that I'm not a fan of 5.5/2024/OneD&D, so I'm not thrilled that we're using that system but I'm like 90% sure Cloudward, Ho! has been slowly acclimating me to the changes and it's close enough to 5e that I'm not going to bitch. The important thing is, we're NOT in Daggerheart for the main campaign. Maybe I'll learn it one day, but I'm an old man, I will grip my preferred game until I wither.

I'm a little wary but mostly excited for the West Marches-style campaign. First, it means we get to keep Robbie AND Matt is a player, AND WE GET NEW DROPOUT VICE PRESIDENT AABRIA IYENGAR AS A PLAYER YESSSSSSS. (For the record, I'm also excited for Luis, he's a delight; the other two I am not familiar with, and I'm looking forward to what they bring to the table.)

Second, it keeps things very fresh as we follow different groups with different flavors of journeys. It's INSANE that Brennan decided to take something he did as a kid (40+ players in one world isand bring it to the modern day. 13 players over three tables baffles me, but if there's any person I trust to be able to pull it off, it's Second Place Mulligan.

Third, the story is very intriguing, and Brennan pointing out the mirroring between the history is this new world, Araman, and Exandria makes me think that they want to explore another path that they could have taken in C3. I'm also totally invested in the idea of a world that decided their gods suck, so they we're gonna kill them. That's hella metal.

Also, that new set looks gorgeous. It's giving "library of epic myths" which is perfect for a BLeeM campaign.

(Sad that we didn't get any D20 regulars for the main campaign but who knows. Exandria Unlimited might still be a thing, and maybe we get an Araman Unlimited later...~)

I think the announcement gave me some hope. Idk about y'all, but I think I'll be there at 7PM PDT on Beacon. Maybe I'm excited once again.
