I am a monster for thinking of this game, but alas here it is:
Trigger Warnings: Yes. Seriously. All of them. If you get triggered after reading this, you're the dick, not me.
Name: Could Be Worse (or, (this is a tentative one that I like), Death Is Pretty Good)
Number of members: 2-6, -8 (if necessary), (after that it gets kinda loud and rowdy); if greater than 8, split into two groups (separate the friends & force them into a competition)
Gameplay: The first player, (that being the one who suggested the game), begins by describing a situation or a type of death one could experience. Each player after has to come up with a worse situation than the one prior, and their description of the situation must begin with, "Ehh, could be worse..."
You may propose an alternative situation, however, it must be at least as bad as the previous.
If the player(s) after the one who gave a new situation wants to return to the old one, they can, however, it must be arguably worse than before.
If a player makes a suggestion, but are eliminated, their suggestion may be used by a member that has not been eliminated.
Turns: Whichever order they want to go in. Once the first round passes through, that order remains until the game is finished. Upon starting a new game, you may change the order however you like.
Scoring: 1-10, with one being the most pathetic situation/death, and 10 being absolutely, downright, despicably, the worst. A 10-scored situation would be something that is, by definition, the worst possible situation or death one could experience. Upon reaching a 10, the game ends, (unless someone comes up with something that could possibly make the situation even worse, this reducing what was once the worst, to a 9). Fair bit of warning: it could always be worse.
Ways to be Eliminated:
- If a player does not mention the necessary phrase; they are eliminated from the game.
- If a player does not come up with something that could make the situation worse, or another situation that could be considered equally as bad; they are eliminated.
- If a player comes up with a situation that could arguably be considered better than the one prior; they are eliminated.
- There are no limits on what may or may not be mentioned, even situations that would normally be considered taboo in normal conversation. To say that there is, is to say that that situation could not be made any worse than it already was, and that's absolutely not true. Everything can be worse than it was.
The winner of the game is: 1) Whoever has not been eliminated, or 2) Whoever has the most points. If there are multiple people who have not been eliminated, then whoever has the most points wins.
