i like to think that gale is still the one who actively seeks out harbinger (physically, at least), just like how Raven visits Ash. Maybe its hope, or just the need to feel familiarity, even if its no longer fire spirit, even if its just a flicker. He wishes to purify Harbinger, yet cannot do so. He will try his best and as hard as he can (in this state). Even if it means he might crumble, at least his death will accomplish something. Harbinger cant explain why, but he cannot bring himself to kill Gale, nor can he explain what he feels towards the other. So instead, he does what he does best, tease and joke. However, he finds himself awaiting for those moments when the two would “hang out”. He hates it. Hes making him weak. He convinces himself that its just his loneliness, since he does kill everyone and everything and spreads darkness.
