what's your dream island look like 🌴
two options here:either it’s very small (25-50 acres) and is entirely mine where I have a small log cabin sitting at the edge of a large meadow full of wildflowers and surrounded by dense forest. half of the island is a bit hilly and there’s one tall peak that allows you to overlook the whole island and out onto the surrounding islands and coastline, but the other end is rather flat. I have a small herd (5ish) of horses that roam the island freely, as well as deer, foxes, rabbits, squirrels, etc. and the occasional black bear but they do no harm. the island is covered in maple trees, pacific dogwood, and coniferous trees, and has the perfect mixture of autumn colours, vibrant spring colours, eerie dead winter vibes, but parts of the forest remains a deep green all year round. it’s close enough to the mainland that I can swim over on one of my horses when the tide is out, but have to canoe or kayak over when it’s not.
orrrr it’s much bigger (250-500 acres maybe?) and houses my own little nature/witchy/pagan/magical community of around 25-50 people, maybe more. there’s a main square surrounded the dock which is old fashioned cobblestone, and is where most of the shops are and some festivals and markets are held. beyond the main square the cobblestone turns to thin dirt, grass, and woodchip paths winding through meadows, small fields, and forests with the most beautiful mixture of trees and foliage. parts of the forest are open enough to easily walk or ride through, and others are very dense and lush and you have to stick to the trail and just admire the surroundings. there are small medieval/fantasy style cottages, cob houses, tiny homes, hobbit holes, and tree houses scattered about, all with beautiful gardens full of flowers and fruits & veggies. there’s a large communal garden & orchard where the whole village helps grow food to keep our island self-sustainable. there are no cars - we only travel by foot or horseback. we make the majority of our own goods and have a successful trading system. we do allow tourists & visitors at certain times, but we don’t allow just anyone to become part of our community as we don’t want it to become plagued too much by modern day society. though there is internet of course 😉
