Meet The Skomra’s
Happy Friday everyone! This week we are so excited to introduce you to The Skomra’s! Meet Sarah and Alex! The Skomra’s wed May 28. 2017 at The Inn on The Lake in Canandaigua and photographed by Tammy Swales. Keep reading to see how Alex proposed, Sarah’s advice to future brides and so much more.
“We were engaged in Canandaguia on the dock of the lakeside gazebo in Kershaw Park. I was scheduled to work that day. Alex contacted my boss and begged her to give me the night off. She came up with an excuse for why she didn’t need me to come in for the work event I was scheduled to attend that night. I was shocked and excited when I was called of because Alex ironically ‘wanted to go to Canandaigua to visit Naked Dove Brewery’ “.
“With my newly freed night off, Alex and I got ready as if it were any other day to head to Canandaguia for a few hours. Without me realizing, he packed a bag of my favorite things and snuck them into the car, knowing I would want the perfect outfit for the big surprise night.”
Our first stop of the night actually was the brewery, then I dragged Alex to Nolans because I was starving. He had to play along as to not give away his plan. (Needless to say, he inhaled his meal faster then I’ve ever seen!) After lunch we walked Kurshaw Park, starting from the peir. As we walked to the gazebo, we looked over the water he stepped back and then got down on his knee.
“My immediate response was ‘shut up’ and I turned the other way only to look back to see Alex still down on one knee. Immediately tears ran down my eyes and I felt like a pile of jell-o. When I get excited, I start flapping my hands like I’m cooling myself down – and that also happened! I said Yes, and that was the best decision I’ve ever made!”
On choosing her dream gown: “When I walked out, it felt like everyone that was there whether I knew them or not stopped and stared. It wasn’t the style of dress that I was expecting to love so much, but I did! It couldn’t have been more amazing and perfect for my special day. Trust your gut it’s not how many you try on but how you feel in the right one. Don’t overthink it!”
On their first kiss: “Alex was such a gentlemen - He didn’t make any attempt for the first few dates we had. When did finally kiss me for the first time - I knew he was the man for me!”
We want to thank Sarah and Alex for allowing us to feature them this week! We wish you both a lifetime filled with love, health and nothing but happiness. Congratulations to The Skomra’s!
XOXO

Ashley and Jeff meet for the first time for lunch at the Sand Bar in Canandaigua, New York located at The Inn on The Lake. Right away the two could not deny the chemistry between them. What was supposed to be a lunch date quickly turned into a 12 hour affair. They could not help but chat the day away and remain in each others presence. Knowing that she would have to soon return to college, Ashley was hesitant to start a relationship that would end up long-distance. After what was a magical day, and an enchanting summer, she said goodbye to Jeff and headed back to Ohio. They continue to talk and while home on school break they started dating again.
Neither Jeff nor Ashley could deny that they had found their soul mate. After some time of doing the long-distance thing Jeff had had enough. He made the 7 hour drive to Ohio to attend Ashley’s school formal. While trying to take a selfie of the two of them Ashley was becoming more and more frustrated with Jeff for dodging the photo. Finally annoyed, she turned around to find him down on one knee asking her to be his forever. Shaking and in shock she declared yes! The two were snapped back to reality by all the cheers and claps of students nearby.
Ashley and Jeff are so full of love, laughter and passion for one another. I cannot wait to share in their special day.
They will join their lives in June 2017 at the Wine and Culinary Center in Canandaigua, New York. Jeff and Ashley, thank you so much for this opportunity to share in this special time. Xoxo Mk
