Kalmar had not had any plans for St. Valentine's Day. He was, in fact, so determined to ignore the holiday that he had spent the last several days pretending to care about Fornacalia and trying to learn how to bake bread, a venture which hadn't been successful on any count.
This, odd as it was, wasn't nearly as bad as he'd dreaded. He wasn't alone, and nobody was kissing within his field of vision, and it promised to be different, at least. (He was never going to get used to wearing anything other than robes, though.)
Kalmar tilted the glass, scrutinising the liquid for a moment before taking a sip.
"It's not terrible." High praise. Beer was rarely his first choice, to be honest, but it was miles better than water, and it was probably sensible of Harry not to let him get anything too likely to defeat his alcohol tolerance. Every time he walked into a muggle establishment, he caught himself thinking about how easy it would be to hex everyone there and walk off with the till.
Though, in this case, dealing with the hordes about them might pose a substantial challenge.
"Not a lot." Or at all. So far, he'd mostly gathered that it involved far too much running around for him to ever contemplate trying anything of the sort, which meant, of course, that he was all too happy to sit around and watch a bunch of athletic men do it.
He turned his gaze back to the scrying device -- the television, right -- brows drawing together slightly.
"Which one's blue?"

“Might I borrow you for a moment, Mr. Lupin? There is nothing to worry about, I assure you.”
Draco had waken up in the middle of the night to the large silence, feeling the need to move. Not that he had many options for it at Hogwarts, he ends up grabbing his books on transfiguration & school bag instead.
Running his fingers through his mused silver-white hair sleepily, lazily fixing it as he heads to his eighth year common room silently, not even bothering to look towards the other bed. Blinking his eyes upon occasion to help himself push back the grogginess of sleep, he takes a seat at a random table in the common room. Not caring where the table was in the room. Keeping his noise low as he pulls out his supplies & opens his book to his current chapter.
Resting his forehead against his palm, he threads his fingers through his hair, making his earlier grooming pointless as long stray hairs shift chaotically about his head. He’d already made notations within the margins, using them to make methodical notes within his transfiguration notebook. Going so far as listing suggestive emotional states or focus to make the spells work smoother than the book itself implied.
His quill pauses mid-word as he hears something within the silence, a scowl curving across his brow for sheer seconds of time. He doesn’t lift his head to look, only shifting slightly so it would look he was purely focusing on his notebook for anyone nearby. It could be a pet that escaped the confines of another eighth year’s dormitory for all he knew. But he still pays attention, trying to catch anything from the corner of his eye.

when the door to their dorm room shut behind him, the thrum of music and loud chatter that echoed up the stairs to the gryffindor tower dimmed into a quiet hum. sirius could finally hear his thoughts and his chest felt lighter now that the loud music didn’t vibrate against his rib cage. for now booming gramophone wasn’t a problem but as the students who cast the silencing spell in the common room were getting increasingly more languid and hot from all the alcohol they were ingesting, he supposed it wasn’t long until the magic stopped holding up. that was a problem for future sirius to solve.
now present sirius knelt down by the foot of his bed and began rummaging through the mess in his trunk. it couldn’t be buried under so many clothes - he’d only recently listened to it. after a few good moments of being elbow deep in crumpled fabrics, he let out an exasperated sigh. someone must have used it without his permission then. the commotion from downstairs blared inside the room in a wave followed by the quiet click of the door once again. he looked up.
❛ oh, hey. have you seen my diamond dogs record? i think peter stole it again, the rat bastard. ❜ to emphasise, he nodded his head toward their friend’s bed and sure enough, to no one’s surprise, the record lay undisturbed on the bedside table. with a triumphant ‘ah!‘ sirius retrieved his most prized possession. ❛ got it. come on, the party’s downstairs. why are you here? ❜

@candere ( ron ) gets a starter for charlie’s birthday 🎉
“I think it’s a great move.” Of course he did— Charlie had always believed that sometimes you had to follow through on an instinct. And it might look like a strange career move from the outside ( lord knew that their mum would say, ) but leaving the soul-sucking grind of the Auror Office for someplace joyful and comfortable and where he could be around family genuinely struck him as the right thing for Ron.
“Be good for you.” And no one deserved it more than his little brother. Charlie shook his head, beaming. “When d’you figure you’ll be starting with George?”
@thirsttoprove
He still could not wrap his head around what had happened. One moment they had been a family of three, returning from Diagon Alley for some supplies from the Apothecary and some ice cream, and the next they were just two. If only he had entered the house before Astoria, maybe… Well, they would be in the same situation, except with her sitting outside the mansion with their son in her lap, staring into the distance, waiting for the Aurors to arrive. He had no notion of having been able to stop the curse that had killed his wife.
Scorpius was in his lap, his face buried into Draco’s robe, though Draco was unsure whether the kid was asleep or just too traumatized to do anything but to be curled up in his father’s embrace. Draco himself had not moved since the Healers had arrived and had checked them both over, just holding onto his boy for dear life and staring off into the distance, his mind not yet having caught up completely with the fact that he was now a single father.
A shadow fell over the two of them and finally, his eyes focused on something, the person in front of him. Tilting his head back to look up at them, his brow furrowed. “Potter?” His voice was low and gravely from held back tears and emotions. He rubbed his face with his free hand and blinked a couple of times to ensure he wasn’t seeing anything that wasn’t there. “That’s just perfect.” He looked back down at the boy in his arms and hugged him a little closer. “What do you want?”
❛ how did this happen ? ❜ (for James, from Remus)
meme . @candere
"it was sirius... " he had to stop, as the words were hard to get out. they stuck in his throat like nothing had before. " - - sirius told him about how to get past the willow. "
the next words came running out, so fast. trying to calm any thoughts that might be rushing into remus mind. as james knew this would already bare heavy on his friend mind and remus didn't need more things to add on it " sniv- snape is fine. i got there before he ever saw, you okay? i dragged him out before anything happened and dumbeldore still made him swear to secrecy. "
james look into remus eyes,through out the his fast paced explanation. james had never been a good liar, but in that moment he was glad for it so remus could see in his eyes, he wasn’t trying to feed him some suger coated version of that happened to protect remus.... no that wouldn't help him. james had never been one to do that, it was one of the few things he struggled with when it came to his own parents.
trying to shallow the guilt of despite running fast fast as he could, he still didn’t feel like he was fast enough.
