D.L., Candice and Molly
and why they are significant in Five Years Gone
Hiro first brings them up when talking to Noah about people he would like to find to help him rescue his past self from Homeland Security - so you as a viewer might think, ‘oh they’re out there somewhere, not involved in the action right now and possibly suffering but definitely alive’. Hiro even brings up D.L. and Candice later when trying to work out a specific plan on how to proceed without Peter’s help (D.L. can just waltz into the building, Candice can distract the guards; and we can only assume, Molly can scout the building, though he does not mention her before he is cut off) - and while he does obviously receive Peter’s help in the end, you as a viewer still think ‘ah nice they’re being mentioned’, and keep assuming they’re fine.
but
thing is - i don’t think they are.
i mean; idk about Molly? but D.L. and Candice are almost certainly dead. pay attention to how Peter talks to Niki about the losses she’s suffered - he mentions that she ‘lost’ D.L. and Micah, but when talking about the explosion specifically, only mentions Micah. so..... D.L. could just be somewhere, but not dead....?? yeah, or Sylar could have gotten him!!! as he literally demonstrates later by grabbing Peter through a wall. i mean; this isn’t 100% confirmed (D.L. could’ve died, or gotten ‘lost’, another way; and Sylar could’ve gotten the power from someone else)... but come on. and Sylar literally tells Claire that he took Candice’s power. so.
you might think at this point - aww sad, but ok. but let me give you one last, really dark thinking point: why does Hiro believe they’re fine, and that Noah would know where they are?? because he only knows Noah as the one who helps special people. he does not know that Noah sends ‘’dangerous’’ ones off to Matt.... who always reports back to the president.......... yeah.
yes this might mean that in this timeline, Matt got Molly killed. there is no hint of her fate at all, but by this pattern............!!
