Thoughts on reading by candlelight
As I previously joked, I felt a bit like I was at a seance or a satanic ritual. Also I know now that I should have used unscented candles. All the different scents mixed in my nose which was a weird experience.
Reading itself was kinda nice as it felt sort of mysterious and old fashion. However, it was still a bit dark and I had to keep moving the candles around to see best. And the flickering can actually start getting kind of annoying after a while.
Also you can never quite get comfortable. You are reading by means of fire which could, of course, burn things if you aren’t careful. So its not like I could curl up on the couch or in bed with my book and candles.
Finally, compared to my overhead lights, the darkness and gentle light of the candles just made me sort of sleepy.
Overall, I think I am fine with sticking with electricity and lightbulbs.
