Camp Preparation [Closed]
He was a bit disappointed to find the letter and the send off so soon. Maybe he missed but he doubted it. Work had been hectic recently and still there was a large among of open and cold cases sitting around for him. There were plenty of people left for him to interrogate and without any officials watching him or at least turning a blind eye, he could do a lot of good for the general public. Solving cases like those and getting his hands dirty where others wouldn't was his purpose.
But, the letter came so soon to his departure he was not able to set up anything for his mother. Being a single mom and a widow, it was hard on her. She took a lot and regardless of what she went through, he loved her more than anything.
He stepped into her room with a soft knock.
"Mommy," he said softly getting her attention. She had her head turned toward the window, looking out on the lawn and garden. Her hair was still a bit of a tangled mess but she probably woke up from a nap recently like she usually did. When she turned her head toward him slowly, he knew then it was a good time to enter and slowly walked beside her.
"Mommy," he said again before continuing, "School invited me to this camp. So... I'll be away for a couple of weeks. I won't be here for my daily visits but I'll send letters whenever I can, ok."
The woman smiled and nodded her head as the young man bent down to give her a small kiss on the cheek and hugged her tightly. He whispered softly into her ear, "I love you mommy. I'll be back soon and when I do, I'll bring you a present. Let me know how the flowers we planted grow."
With that, the young boy left on his trip. He had everything pack and ready to go. He wouldn't be long before he was off.
