Halloween is less than a week! One of our outreach programs is that every year, we collect your excess or leftover Halloween candy. We ship and distribute them to less fortunate kids in the Philippines. Parents use this as an opportunity to teach their children to share. To learn more please feel free to PM us. #candyforkids #halloween https://www.instagram.com/p/CkLsUyHrPw6/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
Part one of #candyforkids has finally arrived and over 150 kids are smiling from ear to ear because of your candy donations last October. Thank you for giving them some sweet love. #halloween #candy @hungerfreephilippines 🍬🍭🍬🍭 https://www.instagram.com/p/CdmDNRrpVws/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
Khatta-Meetha Lollipop
There are times in life when you want to forget how old you are and indulge in child like activities that makes you smile. As kids, eating a lollipop was probably one among those sinful indulgences that gave you immense joy. The hard colorful candies in a stick would make us forget the world around us and get into our little fantasy world.
One such candy is the tamarind candy. Popularly called as Chigli, this little candy is made with tamarind, salt, chilli powder and some sugar.
Here is my version of Chigli candy with a Meetha ‘Dates’ twist in lollipop style.
Not just kids, I am sure even adults cannot resist this ;)
Do give it a try :)
INGREDIENTS:
Tamarind - half lemon sized (de-seeded)
Dates - 2 to 4 - chopped (more dates based on the sweetness required)
Salt - 1/2 tsp
Chilli powder - 1/2 to 1 tsp
Cumin Powder - 1 tsp
METHOD:
Add all the ingredients to a pestle & Mortar, crush and ground them all together till them form a nice paste.
Roll them into small sized ball and keep it ready.
Use lollipop sticks to make lollipops. Cover them with lollypop covers to prevent from sticking to containers.
(I got the lollypop sticks, covers and the strings from #michaelsartstore, you can also buy them from amazon - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000CFO7P?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creativeASIN=B0000CFO7P&linkCode=xm2&tag=foodfilmen-20)
You can also make small proportions for one bite sized servings.
Enjoy it and get nostalgic :) Stay young at heart always ;)
