#cane usage

As someone who has used a cane for the past decade and a bit, I am begging people involved in visual media who has a character using a cane to talk to actual cane users or at least do a fucking Google search, I was using mine wrong for months because I was basing it on what I saw in media.

Things I've seen:

Multiple characters who are using a cane that comes up to mid-thigh (it needs to be at least waist high so you don't have to bend over)

Characters using the cane on the wrong side (at least this was lampshaded once?)

People taking multiple steps before leaning on the cane/thinking that swinging it like a purse and tapping it against the floor every half-dozen steps is Totally Good Enough

Shout out to that older biker guy I talked with awhile back.

I was leaving the place and the man went, "It's good to see another person using a cane."(paraphrased). Since he left his in the bike (or house?)

Now I'm younger and not what people typically picture when they think of cane users. I also just started using a cane. So this? This was the reassurance I needed to be comfortable. An older man, that also uses one, showing support.

Mobility aids don't have an age restriction.
