About as dry as one should allow for the dry side of watering. Im always a huge proponent of following the watering scale from 2-4 out of 1-5 range. Ive slightly adjusted my tactics as the microbes thrive in water but also oxygen. Drying out the soil allows oxygen to re enter the soil structure. Anytime one over waters one is destroying aeration of soilless medium. (Especially true in fabric/soft pots but any potted culture, free draining shouldnt even be a question unless its earthbox tech. ) This is the reason they invented the medias they did. As they are more forgiving to repetitive additions of water. Ie rock-wool the ultimate wont collapse but can be watered constantly. (Yield) Coir ive noticed is also fairly forgiving in not holding too much water and almost seems to let go too quickly. Imo. I still prefer a combination blend. Which seems to be working quite well. Still working towards no pre made, ie pro mix. And no perlite in future. Peat Promix cc-k Coir Castings Few mineral dusts (17gr per 5gallon soil) 35gr for the heavy. 1/4cup ish. Top dress with EWC and have been watering from the aquarium ive had going for two years no cleaning. I recently remembered thats what sort of started this adventure into microbes. Or atleast made me belive it could work. A variation of aqauponics/soilless medium horticulture and soil food web-microbe organics. Thermal compost is a big must for all of this to work. Thats going to be my biological take on farming. ;).
