Hello, do you know any canon fics where they react to each others songs? And my second question: Do you know any canon fics where they introduce the other as their boyfriend to people? (i know thats oddly specific but i have this wish for a while to find fics like that)
sure, it took me pretty long to find these but here you go:

The day after his 27th birthday, Harry Styles attempts suicide. Louis is flown to his bedside to unravel the mystery of why he did it after a flash drive is found with a note attached, addressed to Louis. On it are a collection of 78 songs, all written for different dates from their past.

During a yearlong hiatus, Louis visits Harry at his cabin in Idaho, where long-buried feelings ignite like the fire keeping them warm.

Harry is sitting there, so fucking casual, and Louis realizes in a split second he was not ready. When Harry walked out in Detroit and never looked back, he was a boy verging on a man, still only twenty years old, but there's a man in his place now. Hard and resolute, yes, but still, for the first time in a long time, Louis can kind of see the old Harry in him. The soft, directness of his gaze, the hesitant smile he gives to Lou, the way he wrings his ridiculously large hands in his lap.
He's a little bit the eager sixteen year old puppy dog again, his innocence and sweetness resurrected miraculously, and Louis freezes in place. He was prepared to face the asshole Harry. He was prepared to meet a whole new Harry.
Louis is not prepared to meet one of the old incarnations of Harry, and it absolutely tears him up.
Or the fic where Harry spirals out of control, the band breaks up, and then he shows back up, five years later.

Harry goes as Louis' date for a weekend wedding. He ends up taking the role a bit too seriously.
“Hey,” Harry hears himself say just as Louis climbs back into the car. He ducks down, holding onto the roof to look at Louis who cocks his brow at him and says, “What?”
“I meant it,” Harry starts. “Like, I’d do it. I’d be your date for the wedding. If it’d make you feel less awful about being there and if you want me to, I’ll do it. I promise I’ll be good.”

“We’d like to give the fans what they want.” Magee states, placing his hand on the table in front of him and leaning forward. “We want to give them Larry Stylinson.”
Or, take a parallel universe where Louis and Harry were never together, mix in a two year hiatus and an impending comeback, pour in a dash of lost fans, two tablespoons of strong friendship and a Modest! employee with a good idea. Add a squeeze of pretending to be a couple, lots of kisses and a tattoo or two. Stir. Serve: the mother of all publicity stunts.
(aka Harry and Louis fake a relationship for publicity. Eventually it becomes a lot less fake and a lot more real.)

The start of the On The Road Again Tour means new anxieties, this time for both Louis and Harry. Between performances, traveling, interviews, family time, and the biggest crisis their band has ever faced, they have to help each other feel better the only way they know how—through domination and submission.

“Yeah okay, look, um. I’m in a relationship now, mum. And it’s pretty serious and I’m very much in love with him.” Louis’ mum’s face lights up at that.
“Well why didn’t you say?! Can we meet him?! Is he here today?”
“This is the catch. He’s kind of, well, he's incredibly famous. So he couldn’t be at the ceremony but he’s in the car and we’re going to go back to his home for some lunch, is that okay?”
“Famous?! Louis, if this is some sort of joke…”
“It’s not, mum, I promise. Please can you just get in the car? He’s in this one, I want you three to meet him first, just don’t freak out, please,” he says, gesturing at Harry’s traditional black car.
Or the one where Harry is going to be King, Louis can't handle it like he thinks, Zayn is finally happy, Liam's a massive geek and Niall's marrying a princess.

Prompt: Harry and Louis go into the wrong hotel room while snogging, Zayn and Liam walk in on them. Nobody cares and they all have sex in the same room.
Set around 2014/WWAT tour. I'm sure this is absolutley canon and definitely happened (lol jokes). I chose this prompt as an excuse to write smut with banter and work out how each of them would react and I'm hoping I got it spot on. Couldn't help but get a bit fluffy towards the end lol. Also I had title struggles and just went for the obvious in the end haha.

Anon, send me another ask though if you'd like me to add your rec request to my pinned post and I can make you a full length rec! It's just that the request list is out to next September lol and you were asking for new ones so I wasn't sure that's what you'd want.
Warnings: a few curse words!!! no real season 4 spoilers, just a few details abt Eddie that we learn in the first episode!!!
Summary: Eddie and Liv hang out and talk about their hopes and dreams.
i’ve had this headcanon since episode one that Eddie’s biggest dream is to play music so i started thinking about sharing my biggest dream with him and!!! here we are!!! i love him i love him i love him!!!
"What do you wanna do after you graduate?"
The question catches Eddie off guard.
He doesn't know if anyone's ever asked him that before. There's always been a conversation about him graduating, sure, especially after he learned he'd have to repeat more than once, but it never felt like this, like curiosity. Usually it felt like doubt. When people asked him about graduating, it didn't feel like they wanted to know if he was going to, it felt like they wanted to make sure he hadn't. It felt like no one ever really believed he'd get there, let alone find something to do afterwards. But Liv did. She asked him like he already had the diploma.
"I don't know," he answers. He lies. He knows what he wants to do; he's known for years. But the people in this town already didn't understand him, already didn't understand the way his mind or his heart worked, already had casted him out because of the things he was passionate about. And for the most part he had gotten used to it, didn't mind it much anymore, sometimes even embraced it, but there's something about her and the way that he feels when they're together that makes him think that if she were to do the same, it would break him beyond comprehension.
"No idea?" she presses. She's so pretty, so pretty sitting in the open back of his van, long legs stretched out before her, so pretty in the way that she looks at him and talks to him, so pretty in a way that makes him nervous; he grabs a stick and begins to swing it mindlessly at the tall grass just so he has something to do with his hands.
"I mean..." In Dungeons & Dragons, he's powerful. He is strong and he is feared and he can do anything. But this isn't a game, it's real life. There's a real life girl sitting a few feet away, a real life girl that agreed to come to Lover's Lake with him just to get away and to watch the sunset, a real life girl that he likes, and he's just Eddie again. He's weird and erratic and loud Eddie, and it's something new for him to realize that when he's with her, being just Eddie is actually kinda nice. "I play guitar. I'm in a band."
"You are?"
"Corroded Coffin," he nods, whipping the stick he had busied himself with down towards the water. "We play at the Hideout on Tuesdays. There's usually about five drunks that really seem to dig us," he jokes. She smiles and he grins back, happy to be the reason. "It's not the garden, but... you know. Gotta start somewhere."
"So that's what you wanna do after you graduate? Play at the garden?"
"Hell, I'd settle for any place outside of Hawkins with a capacity of more than 20." Her smile widens, breaking into an actual laugh, and the sound goes straight to his chest. "But yeah, the garden would be nice. It's kind of a lofty goal-"
"It's a good goal," she interrupts. "I think you can do it."
A feeling blooms in his chest like the one that found him when she asked what he wanted to do in the first place. She makes him feel like he can do anything, and he thinks for a moment that if he can make her smile, if he can make her laugh like he did a second ago, then maybe he really can.
"Yeah? You haven't even heard me play," he counters, though the corner of his mouth is quirked up when he says it like he's not trying to challenge her, not really. She scoffs and pushes herself onto her feet. The two circle each other in the small clearing at the shore of the lake, an inadvertent almost dance.
"Doesn't matter. It's not about that."
"What's it about?"
"It's about you." He cocks an eyebrow, silently urging her to continue. "Playing the guitar is something you can always get better at, but you're already you. You just have this energy, you know? Like you have a stage presence even when you're not on a stage. You can't learn that. You can learn how to play the guitar but you can't learn that."
His heart rate is picking up in his chest as he listens to her talk about how she sees him and he's sure that he's probably blushing but he can't bring himself to care enough to try to hide it.
"Just don't forget about me when you become a big rockstar, okay?" she adds. He knows she's kidding but he wants to tell her that he couldn't, not even if he wanted to. He wants to tell her that he can't imagine ever wanting to.
"Yeah right," he rolls his eyes. "I should be the one worried about you forgetting me. Pretty soon you'll be off God knows where doing God knows what, showing up everybody in Hawkins. Won't even remember this stupid little town or anyone in it."
"I wanna model," she confesses after a moment's hesitation.
"What?"
"I want to model," she says again. "In front of the camera, you know? Do photoshoots, maybe walk a runway or something." It's vulnerable but she wills away the embarrassment that threatens to bubble up; Eddie has big dreams too. Eddie will understand. And he does.
"I think you can do it," he repeats her earlier sentiment. He catches her eyes and there's an unspoken question there of you think so? that she doesn't ask but he answers anyway. "You kiddin' me? Prettiest girl I've ever fuckin' seen. Fuck yeah, I think you can. They'll put you up on a billboard that everyone in this town will see when they drive into the city. You'll be in all the magazines, goin' to all the parties, runnin' around in New York."
"I gotta be in New York, I gotta be front row when you sell out MSG."
"No, I want you side stage. It'll be easier to find you after the show."
"Might have to compete with some groupies to get your full attention," she teases. He shakes his head.
"You have no competition."
There's something between them, something they haven't acknowledged yet. Something sparking, catching fire, setting their hearts alight. He liked her before, liked when she'd come to pick Mike and Dustin and Lucas up from Hellfire, liked when she'd stop to talk. He liked the way she asked him how he was and really wanted to know. He liked her hair and her eyes and her smile and her laugh and the way that she dresses. He liked laying in bed at night and thinking about how it would feel like to hold her. But after tonight, after some time spent with just the two of them, after crossing a few lines that they had previously so obediently stayed behind, he's starting to think that he's in love. Sometimes he catches her looking at him in a way that makes him wonder if she is too. And she thinks she is. She won't tell him yet, won't tell him that she offers to pick Mike and Dustin and Lucas up after their game just so she has an excuse to see him, won't tell him that she likes his hair and his eyes and his smile and his laugh and the way that he dresses, won't tell him that after he drives her home tonight she'll curl up in bed and she'll lay next to a pillow and she'll pretend it's his body pressed against her back, but he'll find out soon enough.
Corroded Coffin plays at the Hideout the following Tuesday and in the crowd there are five drunks and one pretty girl.
Warnings: A couple death mentions!!! Also one (1) passing mention of hangovers, but that’s all !!!
Summary: A look back to when Steve introduced Bucky and Liv.
Bucky's sitting in a back booth of a Brooklyn diner and he's not happy about it.
The only reason he agreed to come was because he thought it would be the only way to get Steve to get off his back for two seconds, but now he's here and he's uncomfortable and his nervous hands are playing with the salt and pepper shakers and he thinks that maybe Steve's nagging wasn't that bad after all; maybe he should have just put up with it.
"How long do I have to stay here?" he asks.
"We've been here for five minutes," Steve responds. He's calm, and that annoys Bucky more. While Steve's still, unbothered, Bucky's ready to crawl out of his skin. His knee is bouncing, his fingers tapping, and he understands now why Steve insisted on sitting on the outside; Bucky's stuck between him and the wall. He couldn't get out and make a run for it if he tried.
"Tell me again why we're doing this."
"You've been back in New York for months now and you've made no progress. You don't go out, you don't have any friends-"
"I have friends," Bucky argues.
"Besides me," Steve counters. Bucky clenches his jaw. He's almost defensive enough to name Sam just to prove a point, but his ego won't allow him to and his rebuttal dies on his tongue. "Now you'll have me and somebody else."
"Isn't that why you introduced me to the rest of the Avengers? Aren't they considered friends?"
"Do you consider them friends?" Steve cocks an eyebrow at him. Bucky doesn't answer. "Besides, Liv's different. She's not an Avenger, she's normal. You could use more of that in your life."
"How do you even know we're gonna get along?"
"I just know. You're gonna have to trust me on this, Buck."
Bucky falls silent. He does trust him, more than he trusts anybody in the world. But the truth, and what Bucky would rather die than admit out loud, is that he's scared. He's scared because Steve's right, he hasn't been making progress. He doesn't go out, he doesn't have friends. He left Wakanda a free man with a free mind but it's been so long since he's had one that he doesn't know what to do with it. He's anxious all the time, he's angry all the time, he doesn't know who to talk to and he doesn't wanna talk even if he did. But he wants to be himself again, he wants to be who he was before it all. He still hopes for it. And he knows that Steve's only trying to help, to try to let him find version of himself that he can at least live with for now. So despite it all, he's here, in this back booth. He's waiting to meet a friend of Steve's. And he's trying to be okay with it.
It's a Friday evening. The sun is shining and so are the people of New York.
The diner is filled with friends and families and lovers, people talking and people laughing, and Bucky's eyes are flitting around the room as he watches and takes it all in. For a moment his mind wanders back to the 1930s, when he was young and he used to find himself in places just like this. He remembers the late nights and early mornings in diners, greasy breakfasts he'd get to nurse his hangovers and the desserts he'd get to split with whatever pretty girl he was out with that night, but he's brought back to the present when he sees her.
She's impossible to miss as she steps into the diner and Bucky can't tear his eyes away. The summer light spilling in catches her red hair just right and it makes her glow. For a moment, Bucky wonders if he's dead. He wonders if his heart had finally had enough and had given out and the reason she's lit up so brightly is because she's the angel that's supposed to guide him to the afterlife. He's looking at her, her red hair and ivory skin and a face that he knows the rest of the diner can't help but notice with him, and he feels like he's already in heaven.
"That's her." Bucky looks to Steve and follows his gaze all the way back to her.
"That's her?"
"You seem surprised."
"She's..." Bucky doesn't know what to say. He is surprised. He's surprised because when Steve told him that he wanted to introduce him to a friend, Bucky held an idea of the person that would be walking through the door. He thought of a therapist or a social worker, someone older, someone just to listen and to give him advice that he could hold close to his chest to help him get through the dark nights until morning came again. He didn't think Steve would introduce him to the sunrise herself.
"She's pretty," Steve finishes for him. Bucky can't bite back the smile. He knows. He knows Steve knows. He knows Steve knows he knows. And he knows he'll never hear the end of it but he doesn't mind if that means there won't ever be an end to it.
"Yeah," Bucky agrees. "She's really pretty."
Steve waves her over and Bucky watches her walk.
He's seen his life flash before his eyes before.
He remembers the first time it did, after HYDRA got him. He remembers it being dark, cold, scary, he remembers it being bloody and painful, he remembers it ending with him alone, praying to be put out of his misery. He remembers it nothing like what it's like now. Because right now, his eyes are meeting hers and his life is flashing before his eyes and it's bright and it's happy, it's a first date and a first dance and a first kiss, it's a proposal, a wedding, a child, it's everything he's ever wanted and everything he's never thought he'd get and it is all her, her, her.
"Bucky, this is Liv. Liv, this is Bucky."
"Liv." Bucky repeats her name just to taste it on his tongue.
"Bucky," she smiles in return.
And as she slides into the booth across from him, as she looks him in the eyes, as she listens to him talk and laughs at his jokes, Bucky realizes that he won't get back to the version of himself that he was before the war. He'll never be him again.
Warnings: Angst with a lil optimistic ending, a decent amount of swear words, and the teeniest tiniest mention of having a drink together but nothing more than that!!!
Summary: August, an assassin for the CIA, has to go undercover for a job. While undercover, he meets Liv, the woman leading the project he’s been put on as a cover. But August finds that leaving her after he completes his mission is harder than he ever thought it would be, and he has some things to address before he goes.
She let him in without looking at him. Unlocked and opened the door, stepping away and averting her eyes while he stepped through the threshold and closed it behind him.
Liv thought back to the first time August had come over, only a couple weeks ago, and she remembered how she felt, excited, nervous, in complete disbelief at how easily this gorgeous man had ended up in her life and in her home. She didn't feel any of that right now. She bit the inside of her cheek and crossed her arms in front of her in a subconscious attempt to hold herself together.
"I came to say goodbye."
Liv knew from the beginning that August wasn't going to stay.
They met at work. He came into town, a consultant sent by the corporation that had hired them both, and she was the architect leading the construction of their new building. She knew that he was only here to oversee operations, to make sure things went according to plan and expectations, and he told her in the beginning that he'd head back home once he wasn't needed anymore.
But she had fallen for him anyway. Despite the end in sight. Despite the warning he gave her when the two began to grow closer: I don't do relationships. She hoped she'd be the difference, no matter how naive and unrealistic that mindset might have been. She hoped that he'd change his mind for her.
"Bye, August," she responds. Saying anything else seems senseless, and she can't think of anything else anyway. He had only broken the news to her a few hours before; she hadn't even really begun to process it. August had fit into her life like the last piece of the puzzle since the first day she met him.
He introduced himself at her company's open house, telling her that she'd be working with him for the next six weeks, doing his best not to be obvious as he looked her up and down as he did; he hadn't expected her to be so pretty. And in his time in New York they had developed something special, something August wasn't allowed to have anymore, not with his career. He'd greet her in the morning with coffee, and he'd walk her home at night to make sure she got there safely. They'd stay late at the office and order dinner to share over building plans, and on the weekends she'd invite him over for a drink at her place and he'd accept. He had told her early on that he didn't do relationships, he didn't do commitment, he didn't do romance of any kind, but even he had to admit that he was toeing the line a little too closely.
And just a few nights ago, he crossed it entirely.
He had kissed her. Really kissed her, all tongue and teeth and a hand on the back of her neck to keep her close, and she had kissed him back. He knew he shouldn't be doing it, he knew he was pushing her to fall for him and he knew that he couldn't catch her, but he did it anyway. He held her after, the two of them pressed together on her sofa, and he told her things he hadn't told anyone in a very long time. Only parts of it were truthful, but it was more truth than he had shared since he was a child. And the two of them dozed off like that, wrapped up in each other and what felt like a new beginning, but he woke in the middle of the night and slipped out before the sun had risen, leaving behind a note that explained that something had come up and he'd talk to her later.
He had only talked to her once since then, today, to tell her he'd be gone in the morning. Apparently later was now. It was so impersonal, such a stark difference than the man she had thought she knew, and she didn't know how to handle it.
"That's it?" he asks after hearing her response. She was so different than him, so outgoing and lively, so loving and warm, so talkative, and hearing her only say two words to him was so unlike her.
"What?" she snaps. She turns to face him for the first time since he stepped foot into her home, her brows furrowed. "What else is there for me to say?"
"You can't be upset with me." He seems so calm, and one of the things that drew her to him was his ability to stay so level headed in seemingly every situation, but right now she resents it. She doesn't want him to be calm. She wants passion and urgency; she wants him to want her. He's about to lose her and she wants him to care.
"Well, I am anyway," she fires back.
"You knew I wasn't staying here. And I told you I don't do-"
"You don't do relationships, yeah, I know," she finishes for him with a frustrated shake of her head.
Liv wants to be mad, and she is, to an extent. She's mad that he seems so calm, she's mad that she doesn't know what he wants from her, she's mad that he doesn't know what he wants from her, she's mad that he came into her life at all and she's mad that he made her feel so special and she's mad that he made her feel safe and she's mad that he made her laugh and she's mad that he's so handsome, and she's mad at herself for falling for him even though she knew it was a bad idea. But more than that, looking at him now, his face completely unreadable and as beautiful as ever, she is overwhelmingly, heartbreakingly sad. She's sad that he's calm and she's sad that he came into her life and made her feel special and made her feel safe and made her laugh and she's sad that he's so handsome and she's sad that he didn't even give her a choice when it came to falling for him. She's sad that deep down she knew there wasn't any avoiding it; even if she had tried to fight it, she was going to fall anyway.
"And you said you understood."
"I thought I did-"
"So then why did you have to make this so fucking complicated?"
His tone is unlike anything she's ever heard from him before and it shocks her. She can only look at him, eyes wide, mouth slightly agape, and try to determine if he's being serious.
"What?" she asks incredulously.
"It was supposed to be the simplest job. I was supposed to come in, do what was asked of me, and then leave. No strings, no commitments. In and out, 6 weeks at the most. And you knew that. I told you that. You knew I was here for work. You knew I wasn't staying, and you knew that I don't do-" He was irritated now, enunciating each of his words with pointed spaces in between them in a way that was nearing condescending, like she wouldn't understand him otherwise. But he's not irritated at her, not really. He's irritated at the situation, at himself. He's irritated because he wasn't supposed to fall for her too, and he did.
"If you say you 'don't do relationships' one more time, I think I'm gonna fucking scream. I get it. Your job as a fucking construction consultant prevents you from forming connections with people or whatever."
"For fuck's sake, I'm not a goddamn construction consultant." The last part of his sentence came out of his mouth like a sigh. Not like he was angry, like he was tired. Like he was exasperated.
She's wound up, all the emotions and adrenaline that he brought with him were getting to her and she was letting them, but his comment and the way he said it made her falter. She wondered if, in her outburst, she had gotten his official job title wrong, and the subsequent thought that that's what he decided to address in all of this almost made her see red, but she paused. She knew that's what his title was. He had told her. She had seen it on his business card.
"I'm not a construction consultant," he repeats, lower this time, with more self control. "It's all bullshit."
August had allowed himself to lose it, just a little bit, and now he was doing his best to reign it back in. He didn't wanna fight. He didn't wanna yell. He didn't wanna scare her like he knew that he would if he didn't make an adjustment. Liv blinks at him.
"I don't get it." There's still an edge to her voice, a bite, but not one that would break the skin. She can see he's trying to reign it in; she tries too.
He drags a hand over his face. He doesn't want to do this, but he doesn't not want to do it either. He wants her to know the truth but he doesn't want her to know the truth. He's not allowed to tell her the truth. He wants her to know him but he doesn't want her to know him. She's not allowed to know him. He takes a step closer to her, and then another, waiting for her to take a step away, but she never does.
"I'm not a construction consultant," he says for a third time. "I wasn't hired by the company I told you I was hired by. They didn't send me here. I work-" he catches himself before he spills too many details, "-for the government. I was sent here to look into a possible threat." He's choosing his words carefully. He can't tell her that the builders that she was working with were not who they said they were and that he was sent here, as a CIA assassin, to take them out. He can't tell her what he was doing when they were apart, he can't tell her what it was that came up when he slipped out of her apartment that night. He was supposed to get in and get out. He's not supposed to be sharing any of this. But with her in the picture, things were complicated. Lines were crossed. Rules were broken. What was one more?
He can't keep this up anymore, not with her. He can't keep pretending like he wants to leave. He can't keep pretending that the reason he doesn't do relationships is just because he's happy as a bachelor and not because his superiors have done nothing but told him since the minute he joined the CIA that relationships don't serve a purpose in this line of work, that caring is a weakness and weaknesses aren't something that August can afford to have. But he doesn't feel weak. Caring about her makes him feel stronger than he's ever been. He can't keep pretending like nothing has changed for him on this mission.
"Wait," she closes her eyes for a second to try to understand what he's telling her. She can't. She opens her eyes. "So... the job? I mean, the job I've been working on this whole time... are we gonna get to build it? Am I gonna get to build it? Was it real?" He offers her a slight shrug and her shoulders slump. She had worked so hard to get to where she was, to prove that she knew what she was doing, both to the people around her and to herself. She thought this was her moment. "Was any of it real?"
Liv has never felt more defeated. She thought she finally had the life, the job, the man. She thought that everything was falling into place, that this was everything she had dreamed of and worked so hard for, that it was all finally paying off for her. But in an instant, she had not only lost it all, but she realized that she never had it to lose in the first place. She has to make an effort to keep herself standing because all she wants to do is crumple. August takes another step closer. He reaches for arm, dragging his fingertips down and over the underside of her wrist until he finds her hand and takes it into his own.
"We were."
She looks up to him; he looks remorseful. She's never seen him look so soft.
"The job wasn't. I wasn't. But we were. When we were together, it was real."
Liv nods, ducking her head in an attempt to hide from him that she was beginning to cry.
"Were," she repeats his word. It's past tense.
"Are," he corrects himself. "We're still real. We're real now, don't you think?"
He tilts her head up to meet his eyes with his free hand. He looks over her face, into her eyes, down her nose, to her lips, back up to her eyes. He drags his thumb across her cheek, tucks a piece of red hair behind her ear, and slides his palm to the back of her neck. He leans forward and touches his forehead to hers. Real. He's never had something real.
August doesn't do relationships, but maybe... maybe he could. For her.
summary: bucky sneaks into liv’s room the night before the wedding just so they can share a quiet moment together.
It's close to midnight when the door to Liv's suite opens.
She can hear it from the bedroom and for a moment she lays and she listens as she stares at the ceiling, wondering if Natasha or Wanda or Pepper had left something behind and had come to retrieve it, but then the footfalls grow closer and she grins to herself; she knows his sounds.
He appears in the doorway and he leans against the frame for a moment while they look at each other, neither of them able to bite back their smiles. This was technically against the rules. She's thankful he's never really cared much for following the rules.
"You're not supposed to be here," she giggles as he lifts the covers and crawls into bed with her.
She scoots back just enough to make room for him, to give herself enough space to look at his face, but he doesn't let her get any farther than that. His head falls to the pillow next to hers and her heart clenches at the sight. They've ended their days exactly like this almost every night for the past four and a half years, but she never gets tired of it. She never gets tired of him.
"It's not technically our wedding day yet. We still have..." He looks over his shoulder to glance at the clock on the side table. "Seven minutes."
"It's kind of a sexist tradition anyway," she shrugs. "But I thought Steve and Sam were spending the night in your room to make sure you didn't sneak out?"
"They are," he confirms.
"They're not very good at their jobs then, are they?"
"Don't you know who you're talking to, baby doll? Sneaking is what I do. They don't even know I'm gone yet. I say we have about 20 minutes before they figure it out."
She playfully shakes her head and he takes the opportunity to grab her, pulling her in even closer, draping one of her legs over his hip to anchor them together. They've been apart for most of the day, busier than they anticipated with last minute wedding preparations, and if this is the only time they're gonna have together before tomorrow, then he's gonna take advantage of it. Tomorrow they're going to stand in front of all of their family and friends and they're gonna promise to be together for the rest of their lives, but even that's not enough for Bucky; he needs the rest of their lives and these 20 minutes.
Liv turns her head to lay the side of her face against his chest, the steady thump, thump, thump of his heart grounds her and keeps her here with him in every possible way.
Warnings: Alcohol mentions!!! No one is drunk but there are a few references to drinking and being a little tipsy!!!
Summary: Bucky finally pops the question!!!
Bucky and i are getting married in exactly one month!!! so to celebrate!!! here’s the story of how he proposed!!! 💗
It's late when they return to the compound.
Most of the lights are off, the air is calm, and the silence is broken as they stumble in the front door. Bucky's got an arm around Liv's waist, half to be close and half because the heels she wore tonight, although stunning (and expensive), are a tiny bit harder to walk in after the wine with dinner. They're laughing about something, the sound ringing off the walls, and it's not until they're almost to their guest suite that Liv tries (and fails) to hush them both for the sake of the sleeping Avengers nearby. But the two of them are too tipsy, feeling too good to quiet down, and Bucky almost lets it slip that he knows that nobody's sleeping; he knows they're waiting.
The two of them still in the hallway when they finally reach their room.
They feel like kids when they're together, like the kids they never got to be, and they're sharing their room and their bed tonight, just like they have every night for the past several years, but her hands are shaking like he's dropping her off at her place after their first date and his heart is beating like he's about to kiss her for the first time. Those moments have long since passed, their first date and first kiss fond memories now, but each day with each other still somehow feels like the first one. Neither of them quite understand how they can find such excitement and such peace all from the same person. Neither of them care to question it.
Liv pulls away from him just enough to allow herself to press her back against the door, but Bucky is never far behind. Her fingertips find his sides while he braces one strong hand next to her head and he leans in to kiss her. She closes her eyes and the combination of his mouth on hers and the comfortable buzz she got from the top shelf chardonnay makes her body feel like it's spinning. It feels like falling in love with him all over again. She knows that she is.
Their trip back to New York was an unexpected one.
It was a surprise, an early anniversary gift from Bucky so the two could celebrate four years in the place where it all began. By the time he told her, he already had everything arranged and booked and she was almost more surprised by the fact that he had kept it a secret from her for as long as he had than she was by the trip itself.
(So was he.)
(So was everyone else.)
They spent the day of their anniversary in the city.
In the morning he brought coffee and bagels to their hotel room. They ate in bed, wrapped up in soft, white sheets, sunlight filtering in through the window and making them glow like something holy. In the afternoon the two wandered the Met, her favorite museum, and they unintentionally mirrored the art by the way they held each other as they admired every piece; their kind of love has been depicted in every medium since humans could ever create at all. And that night, he took her dancing. It was something reminiscent of a past life of his, of a boy that stayed out late and sweet talked his way through Brooklyn. But this life was better, he knew, because it had her in it.
The day after, they drove upstate to spend the rest of their trip in the company of their friends, of the people that helped get them into this relationship in the first place. And when they all got together again, it was like no time had passed at all. They found themselves in the common room at close to midnight, dozens of containers of Chinese food passing between them, and they're talking, and they're bickering, and they're laughing, and it's growing louder and louder with each passing moment, and Liv and Bucky's eyes keep finding each other's from across the circle.
But tonight... Tonight Bucky had whisked her away for a dinner all their own, at a fancy restaurant that Tony had recommended (and made the reservation for). Bucky tells her it's because he likes having her all to himself, that sometimes even the people he loves most can be a little too much and he needs some quiet time with his girl, and he's half telling the truth. It's not the only reason he wanted to take her away from the compound tonight, but she doesn't question it because she has no reason to and because she's excited to have another excuse to dress up.
He hums as the two finally break from their kiss. If they didn't need to breathe to live, they'd stay connected like that forever. Sometimes they get so lost in each other that it doesn't even seem like that bad of a way to go out.
"Whatd'ya say we go up to the roof? Like old times." His voice is low, breath ghosting over her face as he brushes his nose against hers, kissing her mouth, the corner of her mouth, her cheek. "Bet the stars are real pretty tonight. Almost as pretty as you."
"You're just as charming as you were when you asked me up to the roof four years ago," she giggles when he buries his face into the soft skin of her neck to press a kiss there too. For a moment he allows himself to reminisce, when the two of them snuck up to the top of the compound four years ago. They had been running around for a year, stealing moments together, and he just couldn't take it anymore. He asked her to be his girl that night and she had said yes before he barely got the question out.
"Had to be charming then, wanted to make sure you'd come with me. Had somethin' important to ask ya," he smiles when he pulls away. He tucks a piece of red hair behind her ear and she leans into his touch. There's not a part of him that thinks she'll turn down his offer but he holds his breath anyway. He has to be charming tonight too; he's got another important question to ask.
"You know I'll go with you anywhere, Buck," she hums and his heart shoots to his throat like it's part of a test-your-strength game and she just hit a 100 to ring the bell. He reaches down to wrap his hand around hers, bringing it up to his mouth to touch his lips to her knuckles while he gently pulls her away from the door.
"Think Tony's got a bottle of champagne in the fridge. You think he'll mind if we borrow it?" It's another half-truth. There is a bottle of champagne in the fridge, but it's not Tony's. It's Bucky's. He bought it specifically for right now, and it's not the only bottle he's got stowed away. She pretends to ponder it a moment, though she follows him anyway as he takes a few steps back, her hand still in his, and he knows she's already made up her mind. There was never really a question at all; they had "borrowed" their fair share of champagne and wine and hard liquors from Tony's cabinets in their years together and he had never minded it (or he had never noticed).
"I think he'd want us to take it," she finally decides.
"That's my girl."
She leans on him when they get into the elevator, lacing her fingers with his and wrapping her hand around his right bicep while she lays her head on his shoulder. The late hour makes her soft and clingy, enveloping him and warming him to the bone like a hot towel on aching muscles, and it's not until that moment that he realizes how tight he's currently wound; he has to make a conscious effort to loosen his grip on the champagne bottle because he's about to shatter the glass with his vibranium hand.
Bucky's watching the floor numbers ascend, the chime that rings every time they pass a level feels like a countdown to the rest of their lives, and he's so nervous and excited that he almost just takes a knee and proposes to her in the elevator because he can't wait any longer.
But the doors finally open.
The compound roof is twinkling with fairy lights and flickering candles at their feet, on every surface, along the railing. It's all lit up like the night sky they're under, and where there aren't lights or candles, there are white flowers. Extravagant bouquets stand in the corners and the ground is decorated with scattered petals. Liv gasps, pulling him out into it with her, and Bucky breathes a silent sigh of relief. It looks exactly like how he wanted it to. He trusted the Avengers with his life, a sentiment that all of them took absolutely literally, but for some reason trusting them to decorate while he and Liv were at dinner felt almost like pushing it. But it worked, they worked, and for a moment Bucky feels like he's died and gone to heaven, with her leading him to the pearly gates. He hopes that when the day eventually comes, this is what it looks like. He sets the bottle of champagne down and follows her as she takes it all in, eyes flitting from the flowers, to the lights, up to the night sky, and back down again, before they finally fall back to him, like they always do.
"What's all this for?"
"It's for you," Bucky offers.
Liv's brow furrows slightly in curiosity and confusion, a genuine and awe-inspiring smile playing on her lips all the same, and Bucky knows that he has to do it now. She's trying to read him and he knows she'll be able to; if he waits another few minutes she'll be able to recite his entire speech better than he could.
"I fell in love with you the minute I first saw you, and it felt kinda like this. It felt like all I could see was you and you were lit up like... I dunno, baby doll. Like the angels wanted to make sure I didn't miss you. But I couldn't have. God almighty, I couldn't have even if I tried to. You're the most beautiful girl I've ever seen."
She bites her lip, still flustered by his words even after all this time, but she believes him. He has lived a hundred lifetimes, seen a whole world of women, but he loves her like she's the only one and when he looks at her, she feels like she is. Liv takes a step closer, places a hand over his heart, and he lays his over hers as he tilts his head forward to touch their foreheads together.
"Think I got more love for you in my veins than serum now."
"Bucky," she murmurs, and it is a whole sentence. She doesn't need to say anything else. He knows. He knows.
He pulls away just enough to draw his hand from hers and slide it under his jacket lapel, his fingers steady as they find the velvet box that's been burning a hole in his pocket all night, and in his night table drawer for months, and in his head since the night he first kissed her.
"Marry me," he whispers. Her eyes fly open and a question of "what?" dies on her tongue as he kneels to the ground in front of her, the ring safe in his hold between them. She was already close to crying, doing her best to contain the tears building along her lash line, but the sight of him like this is enough to push her over the edge. She can't talk around her heart in the back of her throat so she nods, furiously, like she's trying to shake it loose to finally get the words out of her mouth, and it's all he needs before he's got her in his arms again and he's kissing her like he's never kissed her before. It's laughter and it's sobbing, it's excitement and it's relief, it's everything and it's nothing and Bucky, more than anything in the world, doesn't wanna let her go, but he wants to put the ring on her finger even more than that. It fits perfectly, just like the two of them together.
They open the champagne and share the bottle instead of bothering with glasses and between sips they kiss each other again, and again, and again, like they haven't just made the deal to spend the rest of their lives doing exactly that. They watch the stars and don't feel the need to wish on any of them.
And when they finally take the elevator back down, ready to face this new life they know they're about to have together, they're greeted by their best friends. Steve and Sam and Clint and Tony and Bruce and Thor are clapping Bucky on the back and on the shoulders in congratulations and Natasha and Wanda and Pepper are reaching for Liv's left hand to get a good look at the ring, and it dawns on Bucky after a few moments that they were all celebrating before they even got a confirmation that Liv had said yes. But he understands. When it comes to him and her, there's never been any doubt.
