it’s been two months and isaac still doesn’t feel like he should be in the tower. it’s not that he hasn’t got interesting powers because shape shifting is certainly interesting. even if he could only take on shapes of animals. but he was still getting lost, still hiding in one animal form or another to avoid people learning anything about him. 

unlike when they ‘brought’ him here, which wasn’t pleasant at all, and inquired about who he was and why he was an ‘inhuman’. causing him to mistrust everyone he came into contact with afterward. especially tony. who knew everything about isaac and could at any moment reveal his past. which terrified him into sticking around and was half of why he trusted no one. not even steve rodgers. the all american icon of ‘justice for all’. 

especially because every time isaac turned around the man was there. which was suspicious and kind of nice. steve was nice even when isaac was lost... everyday for two months. but he was still wary and it was draining to be so skeptical of everyone. 

one day, he’d trust them but today was not that day. especially as he exited the training room after natasha to find steve standing there. blue eyes narrowed slightly before he made himself relax. “something wrong captain?” he asked. isaac would never call steve by his name out loud, it implied trust and friendship. neither of which isaac could afford to have with someone like steve. someone always in the public eye and always about ‘doing the right thing.’ if he knew isaac’s past, he would probably hate him. or worse, pity him.

It’s funny, really. Thinking back to when they’d first met Steve and how much Peter couldn’t hate him no matter how much he’d wanted to. Now here they were, Peter pulled into the larger man’s lap and being kissed hungrily while they waited for Alec to get home from his late class. The day that Alec and Steve’s names had shown up on Peter’s wrist had been the happiest of his life, but even knowing what being soulmates entailed couldn’t have prepared him for the amount of affection, both our and lustful.

He can’t help but moan quietly into the kiss, finding it hard to find a moment to breath as Steve keeps him close with an arm around his lower back and a hand at the back of his neck.
