“Pre-Civil Rights era we had Our own everything. Hospitals, Fire departments, Dentists, Stores,Banks, Schools, Tailors, Restaurants etc. And we were thriving well. We were on the way to becoming a nation within a nation. And that was not acceptable. I can only imagine how living in a prosperous black community would have felt. OMG the pride! It was a prosperous, successful ALL Black town flourishing with wealthy Black ppl.” They took that from us a long with so much more.
