Modern society was so withdrawn into their own worlds, their digital lives, that you could figure out every detail about a person before even meeting them face to face. There was a sick empowerment to the whole online scene, especially when it came to dating. Naturally, the immortal had to make sure that he was ahead of everyone else no matter what the situation was. Someone who has lived as long as he had was always conscious of the fact that it could all come crashing down at any given moment. So, it was best to live in the moment. It was a morbid way of thinking, but it kept him grounded to know that the world could change within the blink of an eye. Boredom made people do silly things, like create a profile on a popular dating site with that gave new users the premise of finding their perfect match.
The love aspect aside, Dorian wasn’t opposed to using it as a method of finding new nightly victims. It had been a few weeks since he had spilled anyone’s blood and his hands were itching to feel someone’s heart beat for the last time. Within an hour of signing up, the immortal’s profile had pinged for so many “perfect matches” that he was about to toss his whole computer out of the window. Instead, Dorian skimmed through some of the pinged profiles until he found someone who looked real enough to respond to. Reading over her profile, she gave the impression of being outgoing and blunt. Nor was she ashamed of her listed interests and desires. Knowing that anonymity that the internet provided meant a number of things could be a well-fabricated lie, the brunet still felt the hunger for an adventure. Dorian typed up a brief yet courteous message with an indication that he desired they meet. It was hours before he had received a reply and just like that the immortal had a date with some woman who IDed herself “Broadway Baby.”
The pair had agreed to go out that very night and meet at a champagne lounge in downtown. Abiding by the dress code, Dorian was wearing a suit that was navy, but so dark that in some lights it appeared black and it paired well with the crisp white shirt that had the collar peeking out from his coat. As usual, Dorian had arrived early enough to secure himself a table away few feet away from where they were meeting. He was hidden but had a clear view of the table that had been reserved for them under the name ‘Mr. Gray’. He wasn’t nervous or scared, far from it, but he wanted to see her long before she saw him. One would tell a lot about a person just from catching them unaware. Was she the punctual type or fashionably late? A drink, dark in liquid and in a short glass, was nestled within his pale hand and occasionally he lifted it up to his lips for a taste, but his charcoal eyes remained on the empty table in wait of the lady of the hour.
In Versace black, heels wrapped in Louboutin red; lips shining with Chanel, and cheeks rouged with just the softest touch of Yves Saint Laurent, doth she come in glittering glory. Clutching a little purse between sparkling nails, Jessica had shed her faux-fur jacket (spring was sometimes still chilly) at the concierge’s podium before continuing forth behind a guiding waiter to the table she had been instructed to ask for. How long had it been since she’d ever done a reckless date like this? Too far to recall; whilst her occupation meant this was a regular occurrence, there was something a little exciting about turning about to a restaurant as a regular customer instead of as an escort.
Floor-length gown, tucked like skin to her figure, if this was the first date in so long, shouldn’t she dress up for it and adorn herself with frosting? Eyes appraise the room and she spots the place she’s being led, empty. A little cock of her head, perhaps slightly disappointed he hadn’t arrived yet, she’d made sure not to be exactly on time but to make space for the fluttering of three or four minutes when heartbeats would surge in anticipation. A graceful thank you to the waiter and she carefully lowers herself into the chair provided, her purse placed down beside her ankle beneath the draped table-cloth. Ordering herself a glass of wine, Jessica supposes she could do naught else but to wait for the arrival of her date.
How many people do you truly love? What are you doing for them?
We’re talkin’ platonic and otherwise, aren’t we? That’s how I’m going to take it. Really though, not that many. It’s real easy for me to love the bits and pieces folks don’t mean to share, the stuff you see when the curtains are briefly pulled back. The ones I truly love are few and far between, and rarely easy, for good reason. I could say I’m doing plenty, but the truth is probably a lot closer to not enough. M’trying to get better at that.

★ — Starter from Hanbin || @canuspulchra
★ — After Hanbin had accepted the commission, it took a couple of days before the imported parts arrived at his workshop but once they did, he immediately unpacked them to take a look at them and check their quality. To his surprise, everything was of superb quality and it made him eager to get to it but first, he had to put everything in order and prepare his tools and everything else that he needed to start.
It wasn't going to be an easy task because it was the first time, he was going to create a life-size doll. For a moment, he worried that he should've thought about it a little more before accepting the commission but the amount of money he was offered, he just couldn't say no to as it was definitely going to allow him to create dolls for quite a while without having to worry about whether or not he could actually afford to buy more parts, tools, and other things.
Putting all the parts together was the easiest part and only took him a couple of hours to make sure that everything was in the right place and secured. The head, however, took Hanbin almost a month to finish and the longer he worked on the doll, the more attached he grew to it as it turned out perfect in every single way. It made him prouder than he had ever been before.
When he was done, it was time to prepare himself to part ways with the doll but Hanbin had reached a point where he really wasn't sure if he could sell it. He contacted the wealthy client and begged to be allowed to keep the doll but they insisted and wanted the doll to be shipped immediately. With a heavy heart, he prepared the doll to be shipped the next day and carefully placed it in a large wooden box that was laying on the floor in one of the corners of his workshop before going to bed.
Hanbin didn't sleep very well and was still half asleep when he walked into the workshop to check the doll one last time before closing the box and calling someone to come to pick it up and have it shipped out to the client but to his surprise, the doll wasn't in the box anymore and was sitting on top of it instead which really startled the doll maker and left him speechlessly staring at it.
