sometimes working with teenagers means sitting quietly and not engaging as a student criticizes the most recent smurf film in a manner that strongly implies he is completely unaware that the previous live action adaptation of smurfs weren't the origin of the franchise, and that gargamel was always meant to look like that.
and i have to let it go because it's the middle of class and, to be honest, i'm not that knowledgeable about smurfs beyond 'european comic adapted into a cartoon series some time in the 20th century' and, right then and there, smurf franchise history isn't important.
but also they are so wrong and it annoys me.
i have seen the sonic the hedgehog movies
jim carrey was very much playing jim carrey in eggman adjacent costumes.
the references were executed well enough to make it feel like the creative team know the source material (even if it’s just one super fan, no one gets in the way of referencing that knuckles likes grapes, which is trivia i don’t actively know)
idris elba was lackluster as knuckles, but in exchange they brought in tails’s actual voice actor, so like... i get the feeling it’s a case of minimum viable stunt casting for both films to get away with as much stuff as they do get in there.
however, @vulpinmusings seems to like both movies, and since he’s only metric for good sonic content that matters, i suppose they’re good sonic movies.
controversial pokemon opinion
once they reach 999, i think game freak should stop making new pokemon, and instead focus on region variation of old pokemon.
that would decrease other pressure on bringing back the full national dex, allow creative variation, and i just find the variants more exciting.
does anyone read my reviews and essays?
just having a moment of existential uncertainty.
was scrolling through a mutual's likes (which is something you can just... do on mobile) and every time my little christine icon appeared i felt a brief sense of success
checked on my Puella Canvas Magica tag for possible continuity, but turns out i burned my kyuubey wish not on rf5, but instead fixing frontier.
guess i could retcon a silly joke, but i'm at work and the effort...
finally removed DoA from my rss feed.
i, a creature of habit, tend not to let such things go easily. but i decided the occasional funny comic didn’t make up for the slog of tedium and increasingly uncompelling cast.
don’t really know why this is an announcement, but... official now?
