bought myself a fancy notebook to draw in

one without lines

so i needed to inaugurate it with something

clementine is... an entirely new character without basis in old notebook comics.

i figured there should be someone to represent the supply side of odette's business.

od: ah, ms. clementine, are you giving away business?

clem: old coot's aimin' ta retire, and the sooner he's gone, the sooner i can expand. besides, it's a good fish.

carlos (off-panel): thanks, clem!

clem: go kiss a siren's teat, ya scurvy-riddled jetsam!

oh, hey, i also brought these two back.

they originated from middle school stick figure comics i drew.

they're unchanged.

penny: a pair of mediocre ninjas are watching us.

kay: why do you say that?

penny: because they're dressed like kabuki stagehands, and i can see them.

kay: hey, ninjas!

ninja dude: we are but breezes in the leaves!

kay: heh. 'butt breezes'.

nd: oh, that's mature

kay: bwah?

ninja-traitor chris: she's not the one who said we're farts

nd: i was trying to be poetic

ntc: i'm ninja-traitor chris, nice to meet ya!

kay: i'm kay

kay: what's your name?

nd: my name is a whisper between bamboo shoots, unspoken by human tongue

ntc: he's an orphan who never learned his name

kay: oh. that's sad

ntc: really? i think it's very funny

nd: can i have some mystique?

odette: he'll never learn if we do everything for him

guy: [screaming continues]

kay: is out first aid kit stocked at least?

odette: here, check for me

guy: [just keeps AAA'ing]

kay: we have antidote, eye drops, smelling salts... green stuff...

odette: acid. for petrification.

kay: noted. para-gone, caffeine pills

odette: for fatigue

guy: AH!

kay: dungeon delving may be too dangerous

odette: nah. you prepare for accidents, not certainties.

penny: the screaming stopped

penny: he's petrified

odette: didn't know bats could do that

kay: i have the green stuff!

hunt: i can see, just not with my eyes.

hunt: i use a technique called 'mana sight' that lets me observe the ambient magic of the life, enchantments, and such around me. pretty much giving me the shape and depth of everything.

odette: that's notoriously taxing. extended use shortens lifespans.

hunt: boy howdy does it! years off the end of my life!

hunt: however, it'll never be narratively relevant, so it's functionally consequence free.
