Project Hail Mary except when Grace explains how he's never had a romantic partner or wanted romance and rocky says "hm that sounds like 🎵🎶🎵🎵🎵🎶" and Grace gets back to Earth and hes teaching a class about the Eridian culture or whatever and gets to 🎵🎶🎵🎵🎵🎶 and he goes "hm what a bummer we don't have a word for feeling romantic feelings" and his students just look at him until one timid one raises their hand
what if rocky isn't infantilized, what if he's speaking to Grace like an infant because in their mind he is one
I think, as Grace dies on Erid, his final wish would be for rocky and his species to never interact with humans. Humans could, and probably would, take advantage of them, or isolate them, or fight them. They are more human than humans could ever be, and I think it would be Grace's dying wish would be for them to protect themselves.
One of the most haunting things about PMH I felt was that Grace didn't even have the choice, and if he did, he would have chosen to die on Earth. To him, it wasn't a movie, there wasn't a happy ending waiting. There was almost certain death.
He loved Earth, and he tried to help save it when he had the choice. But it wasn't enough that he loved the world, and he was sent to space, a man no one would miss but all would hail as a hero. The scenes where he was in the room with images of Earth and nature, he was so happy. He loved Earth, and nature, and wanted to spend his final years there.
He didn't even get to choose who he was brave for.
