Is this one of those times where I caption this, "Take me back. 🙌🏻😩"? From the buzz of the freewheels, spectators cheering, the hill crew blasting live drum beats, to @cxhairs playing Fleetwood Mac, there was more than enough #crossvibes to soak up. This was LAATSTE RONDE and typifies my CX racing—decent on the tech, but exhibits deficiency when pedaling forward is involved. Loved that I got lapped by my fashion mentee just as we dove into the chute so I could catch it on video. I absolutely abhor GoPro sound on the bike, but it shows just how nasty those ruts were just before the berm. And for those wondering why I swung hella wide at the bottom, at my weight that greasy stuff just let go when I hit it the first time—full sideways braaap. Lap before I took the outside like that, carried speed into the hill and cleared it. Damn meddling kids brake checking me to get the gap, otherwise I would’ve gotten awa… Yeah, no. Lastly, thanks to @bruce_buckley almighty and everyone who helped put together an amazing course under duress. This was an instant favorite after just one practice lap—best course of the Super 8. #CapCross #sscx #TheCXOff (at Lake Fairfax Park)

Try as I might to mess with this image of @service_course at #CapCross, nothing worked. Everything I tried looked flat and heavy, which is the opposite of its essence. I remember that morning: my car broke down and I Ubered to the race (both bike and #TheBug). When we arrived the grass was still frozen but the sun had finally risen above the tree line and this is the light we were treated to during the 35+ Masters race. By the end of the day everything was dry and most in attendance had removed their jackets as it got progressively warmer.
