What's the strangest thing a stranger asked you?
Maybe that's why they're called strangers...because they're strange.
We've all had a couple of weird encounters with people who are only looking for friends but unintentionally sound like a creep. (Maybe we've been a creep once or twice. Totally looking at myself here.)
Don't get me wrong, I like these people! Brave souls, they were. I smile at people who greet me "Good Morning!" or say "Hi!" to me but some are just crossing the line a little too much.
Get this, I've had someone tell me he loves me, someone I just came across!! My mamma didn't tell me I was going to find love THAT easy! (See, folks, we live in a better-than-portrayed world). There are those who conduct hot seat interviews better than any Boy or Kris. Then there are those from big time companies who offer you corporate jobs. Then there are those who ask pamasahe from you.
But the strangest I've experienced by far must be...
the car dealer who decided it was okay to ask me: "Willing ka bang magpa-wax ng buong katawan?" accompanied by a head-to-toe stare as if it was a socially acceptable thing to do.
Imagine the look on my face. Imagine the terror you'd be feeling.
I mean...Man, come on!! Do you really randomly ask girls if they were willing to wax? How's that working out for you?
I have a brother that cares
I’ve been wildly wondering about happiness in the past few years (don’t we all?) I have read articles, watched Ted Talks (which, professionally, is “well-being” by the way), read books, and watched movies about the pursuit of it.
Not because I’m unhappy but because I want to be happier. Does that make any sense to you? So anyway, I was reading this book recommended by a friend (Hey, Frances) called “The Happiness Project.” I haven’t finished the thing because I am getting honestly bored with how routine-ish she makes happiness sound. Because I personally feel like happiness is spontaneous, you don’t have to force it. What I do believe in is that we can train our minds to see the positives and let it outlook all the negatives. Which will result to happiness.
That’s not the point of this entry. The point of this is I want to retrieve this blog. I had to dig up loads of patience to even begin contemplating writing through my touch screen phone. (My apparently big-ass fingers can’t even begin to tell you how hard and time-consuming this undertaking is)
*Deviating from my supposed topic again* Again, I clicked on this article called the 100 days project or happiness. Or something. Which aims to train people to look for the positives. To be thankful for life, one day at a time. I support the cause. I’m all for it.
So I decided I’d do it. Not officially register, but keep the challenge in mind. Happiness, right now, would mean regularly publishing entries. So I guess this is Day 1.
“I have a brother that cares”
I’ve been dressing up (or dressing down) different lately. And my mom keeps mum (see what I did there?) about it but my brother spoke up.
We went for ice cream last night (Yes, ice cream. Yes, at night. You stop with the judging stare) and the convenience store is located in the market area with obviously tons of people. I was wearing some pink shorts and a sleeveless hoodie. It does not even show too much skin, mind you.
I bought some shorts today and told my brother. His response was the sweetest thing anyone’s ever told me recently.
“Ikaw andami dami tumitingin sayo kagabi, naka-shorts kapa!! Tapos anlaki pa ng butas ng sleeves mo!!”
Insert heart melting sounds here. He. Actually. Looks. At. Me.
Yep, that’s what happened today among many others. God bless you in everything you do and keep the challenge in mind as well!! :)
