3D-Sculpting Daily Challenge 2023, Week 4 is complete! These are my 3D sculptures of a Clicker ("The last of us"), Captain Blasto ("Blasto"), Yocheved ("The Prince of Egypt"), Mervyn Pumpkinhead ("The Sandman"), Cagney Carnation ("Cuphead"), the raptor hatchling ("Jurassic Park"), and Christine Daae ("The Phantom of the Opera")
So there's that post that's like "post failed video game mascots" or something like that and the first one is Captain Blasto. It's a funny post, but today I learned that the reason the franchise failed is because Phil Hartman, who voiced Blasto, was murdered by his wife in 1998. Hartman's performance was widely considered the biggest draw for the series, and he even had a big hand in the development of the game, so after his death all development on a sequel were dropped.
Daily Challenge 2023, Day 23. This is my 3D sculpture of Captain Blasto from the PSX game "Blasto".
Fan Art Friday - Captain Blasto
This week's #FanArtFriday features Captain Blasto, from the Playstation video game of the same name, and here, he's saluting his voice actor, the late Phil Hartman. (How he passed away is very tragic, folks.)
I’ve only just remembered this series exists!
Captain Blasto is a short series on YouTube about a teen who is unhappy with his life so he starts dressing up as a hero and stopping fake robberies. Things get complicated when he and the team he is working with decides that Captain Blasto needs a nemesis.
"Storyboarding Mercury the series for SyFy"
From the website: www.mercuryseries.com
"Pittsburgh, 1975. Edward Borman, a lowly government office drone, finds himself trapped, when the deadly men of Mercury seize his office building as a staging ground for their nefarious plot. Aided by Jack Yaeger, a daring aerospace engineer from a mysterious organization known as "The League," Edward must stop the invaders and their doomsday device, the Gravity Engine.
Drawing from the same retro serials that inspired such films as Star Warsand Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Mercury Men reintroduces audiences to the great mystery, danger, and suspense the stories were originally known for. The series consists of 10 online episodes, each approximately 7 minutes in length.
Alongside each episode of the series, additional story, media, behind-the-scenes features, and digital props will be released for viewers and creators to discuss and decipher the mysteries surrounding the Mercury Men.
The Mercury Men is created by Christopher Preksta, best known as the writer/director of Captain Blasto, for which he was nominated for two Streamy Awards. His short concept film The Mercury Men (filmed prior to the series) was featured at San Diego Comic Con (2008), the Brainwash Movie Festival (awarded Best Film, 2008), and the Action on Film Festival (awarded Best Science Fiction Film & Best Visual Effects, 2008). He was also a top three finalist at the Tribeca Film Festival Nintendo Showcase for his short film The Nintendo Office."
